Quadrangles I find far more interesting than triangles - they are so much more complicated. Particularly when one of the relationships is two brothers - like this one. Livia mentions that Katie's type was the bad boy and how Dan doesn't seem like her type - yet Dan points out that after Livia died, he fell into gambling and now well the time traveling. What's odd is Jack has become the dependable brother, the one you can count on. The two have somehow switched roles.
What's also interesting is how close they all were. Livia and Katie were close friends. Jack and Dan had a good relationship. Livia's presumed death caused a ripple effect. Her time traveling changed their lives, much as Dan's currently is. I find that fascinating.
