In a way seeing things from different perspectives is a good, it gives us something to discuss... if you thought exactly the same way I did then I might enjoy the confirmation of my thinking, but it would get dull. As it is I always find that you have found new twists, and you have gotten different things out of it than I did. Which is all good and interesting for me.
Of course if you hated what I loved and trashed it I would have to stop reading you! lol
I think that's why emotion often gets in the way of discussion. It doesn't have to, and won't if it is tempered, but strong emotions can make people stubborn. For example - I resist the urge to be too critical of certain shows and writers that I know my friends are passionate about. Doing a rant, for instance, about how much I despise Stephanie Meyer and Twilight - isn't going to get me anywhere, except possibly defriended.
