And apparently, I suck with names regardless of real life or fantasy, because I didn't remember Spock's Mom's name was Amanda Grayson. Trust me, you won't recognize her and her screen time is limited.
But the fact she's playing his Mom, makes me feel very old. I remember when she would have played the young recruit. Jennifer Morrison from House plays Kirk's Mom, and Bruce Greenwood plays Captain Pike.
