I was remembering that in IWMTLY that Spike wanted the real Buffy not the robot and in season six he just got a human version of the robot he rejected. He never got the real Buffy and though he may not have grown to hate her he could never accept anything but the Buffy he fell in love with in season 5. I guess that means Spike was in the crowd of people who missed the pre-dead girl.
