The worste thing the writers could do to Spike is have him fall in love with a vampire slayer, particularly one that is hung up on Angel (LOL!). The irony.
Heh! Yes. Sometimes I think Spike has his own curse after all, which is to always fall in love with people who will never truly love him back, because they really love Angel. However, it doesn't quite work because I don't think Buffy is still in love with Angel.
I tend to agree with regard to any return to either Spuffy or Bangel being a retrograde step for Buffy's character, though I'll happily read about the former in fanfic, as unlike Bangel, I don't think it's quite so clear cut that it's over. Sometimes I do wonder why I should want them to meet again in canon because it's bound to mean more pain for Spike. Partly, I think, it's because I find the Buffy comic so boring without an ambiguous off to the side vampire character like Spike or Angel in the mix. There's a reason why I enjoyed the Dracula arc the best so far.
In spite of that, I would agree that Spangel is potentially a lot more interesting than a reprise of S/B or B/A.
