My impression was of only horror, no love. The horror and nastiness of Angelus and Darla. She really hates them in this issue - they are depicted as her tormentors. But here is the interesting bit - they are never shown in vamp face - we only see Angelus and Darla in human face. Pretty and young, decadent. The bodies strung about - appear to actually be those of Dru's own family and friends. The people she cared for.
She seems to be filled with rage (at them), guilt at what she's done, enjoyment, and a weird longing for William...but an acknowledgement he's gone from her. The love/hate relationship between her and Darla and Angelus, while there is more focused on the hate - which makes sense in a way since she is literally in hell. Tormented by her visions. And alone.
I do agree though, I think Spike was outside the three in a way - they'd been together since about 1860, Spike was turned by Dru in 1880. Angelus got the soul in 1898. Dru was with Darla and Angelus far longer. Spike is the youngest. Angelus has 140 some years on him, Darla 300 and some, and Dru a goood 20 or so. Also Angelus and Darla turned Dru together. Dru did William on her own and then brought him home to Angelus. Angelus didn't get his hooks into William until "after" he was turned.
The distinction between Spike/Dru and Angelus/Darla is emphasized in the episode Damage. Actually two episodes that should be compared are Damage and Lies. Spike's brand of evil is more or less what he did with Nikki (the slayer), Angelus brand of evil is what Walter did with Dana (the potential slayer) in Damage. Walter is the mirror of Angelus. As Angel tells Spike - "I couldn't look away from my victims, they were the point. I enjoyed to causing them paint, twisting them. I would have considered Dana a masterpiece." Angel tells him the same thing in What's My Line - he says that's the problem you have with Dru - she likes the torture and you don't.
Dru sort of loves Angelus in much the same way that Dana may have loved Walter...if she got turned. If that makes sense? At least that was the impression I got from the comic.
