Regarding Jake? He doesn't remind me of Boreanze look wise, so much as "acting wise" - he has the same mannerisms and vocal inflections. It's just an observation. He moves and says things in somewhat the same way as DB did in the first three seasons of Buffy (not now, back then). But look wise? Eh..I guess Freddie from Scooby Doo works. Doesn't do anything for me.
Agreed on Lando...interesting casting. He comes across as someone you want to trust. Not villainous at all. I'm guessing he may turn out to be one, since they are setting up Ethan (Adam's Dad) as a nice guy - I keep hoping that's a mislead, be a lot more interesting. But so far this show tends to be fairly predictable. So, I don't think so.
Also agree on the romance vs. the horror. The romance elements in this series don't work for me. I find them sort of silly and aggravating - but I'm also admittedly not the target audience. Teen romance isn't supposed to turn me on. LOL! I think Whedon oddly was better at the romantic elements, and Kevin Williamson is better at the horror elements. The horror stuff does sort of work.
