Re: this episode: it seemed to me that the 'running away' was the theme of the whole store: a society where it is easier to pretend ignorance/actually forget than to deal with the difficult and painful questions... we continue to use polluting energy sources, we continue to treat other people as though they don't count, we all close our eyes and take the easier path. It isn't a new message, but obviously it bears repeating because society never learns. It is part of the Doctor's curse that he can see these things too clearly, and can't 'forget'. But of course the hope for mankind is that, like Amy, maybe we'll catch on and try harder to do the right thing, to figure out what the right thing would be.
