Roaches, Broken Mirrors, and Glee (oh and a request for fanfic rec's)

Well, not the best week...outside of the bronchitis, I've managed to break the only body length mirror I own - it fell off my door and smashed on the bathroom floor last night...please no jokes about seven years of bad luck. Personally, been there done that, without breaking any mirrors, so I figure maybe breaking one will bring about the opposite??

And ...

I appear to have an infestation of cockroaches or water bugs or just bugs, hell..I don't know, they look like cockroaches - in my kitchen. When I called the landlord, he asked me if I saved any for him to look at. Uh, no. Sort of flushed them down the sink, thank you very much. Although, the landlord lucked out - because two more of the buggers showed up after I spoke to him, and I saved those in a dish for him to look at. Which he did, along with his new baby, who he decided to bring up with him. So five month old baby, named Artist (his other son's name is Mighty), and landlord looked at gross bugs in dish. Ewww... what types of bugs are those, said landlord. To which, I replied, I don't know, they look like cockroaches.

Backing up. This is what happened. After a long, difficult day at work, I went to make dinner, and opened my cabinet to pull out the rice (which was luckily in a sealed plastic bag) I discovered about five to six small cockroaches crawling along the inside and outside of the upper portion of the cabinet. This has not happened to me before. I freaked for about five seconds. Then pulled out the combat and sprayed like crazy, killing all of them. Then spent an hour and a half cleaning the cabinets, after I called my landlord and informed him of the problem. He's going to set traps tomorrow. My kitchen currently smells like Combat Roach Repellant. Although the window is wide open and the apartment a little chilly, but thankfully free of the cough inducing smell of combat roach repellant. Heck, I may well be poisoning myself along with the cockroaches.

Cheering self up with Glee. So not in the mood for Lost tonight. Work is kicking my ass. I got yet another project to add to the pile. Glee was really good tonight, except, once again the DVR cut it off two minutes before it was finished, so I missed most of the finale number. This was the Burt Baccaharat episode - and in some respects, I liked this episode better than last week's. It had some beautiful character moments. Also I laughed really really hard during a scene with Sue Sylvestrie and a guy who looks a lot like Chris Rock - Jane Lynch is brilliant in this role. Also Kurt got a solo number, as did Mercedes. Better numbers actually than last week and a lot more focus. They are starting to develop the other, more interesting characters. And I adore Kurt's Dad - the actor and the character. Didn't think I'd say this...but Glee is actually better this season than it was last season. My favorite number? Probably a tie between the two duets - One More Bell To Ring and Fire. Clearly, I'm a sucker for a good satirical comedy, with feel good moments, and musical numbers - what can I say?

Off to take a shower, close my window - because brrr. And cough syrup. Bed and reading.

PS: Does anyone have any good Spuffy fanfic rec's? I'm in the mood for something a bit like Thought You Should Know, but smuttier, and with a twist of Influence of Demons, with a little of Nauti's Crave thrown in. Yes, still reading the Rachel Morgan, almost done, and about to start the Harry Dresden - Changes, novel. But I need a Spike and Buffy fix and since Whedon refuses to give it to me, damn him, patriarchial little shit-head - is more interested in rewriting The Watchmen by way of Salvadore Dalie and Wonderwoman (methinks the guy has issues over having his Wonderwoman script deep-sixed, poor baby)...I wonder if flist has any suggestions? I promise that I won't do any more concrits or write about it my lj!
