Sigh. Yes. We had a speaker at church a while ago, which I missed, from Women & Media Association - who'd written a lot on the topic of how women are depicted in media. Her lecture was on how reality tv series such as the Bachelor etc - had cheapened how women are viewed and dating expectations - objectifying women, and re-enforcing a negative pattern of behavior. So true. It's impossible to go on a date - without a guy expecting sex. And if you don't give out? Something is wrong. As a result, a lot of us go on group meetups - where we can meet people in a safe group atmosphere without the expectation and without the whole you have to look like this or you aren't appealing.
