It's beastly hot and humid today in NYC, so I'm tucked away in air conditioned apartment watching Leverage. Or half-watching it as the case may be. John Schneider and that gal who played one of the female hunters on SPN is guest-starring. Schneider is actually a good singer.
He's made quite the career of guest-starring as bad guys lately. Maine was in the 70s and 80s during the day and 60s and 50s at night. Also as you can see from the photos below - beautiful.
Reminded my bro and his wife of Nova Scotia - where they got their BA in art. Reminds me of Cape Breton - amongst my favorite outdoor places in the world.

Seasonal photo download:

1. Snowfall outside my bedroom window in March 2010:

2. Two boys playing on the rocks at Jordan Pond - on Mt. Desert Island, Maine. Note - Jordan Pond is the clearest pond in Maine, a reservoir that provides drinking water for the population, no swimming, dogs or wading is permitted - in order to preserve it. It is located in Arcadia National Park - one of the first of America's National Parks - created by John Dior, who went broke purchasing and donating land to create it. It is also the second most visited national park in the United States.

3. Thunder Hole - the rock outcroppings on the coast of Arcadia National Park on Mt. Desert Island. During a storm surge - the waves go clear above the street level. It was in this area, according to our guide that 24 people got washed out to sea last year.

3. A shot to demonstrate how clear the water at Jordon Pond truly is.

4. One of the few four poster sail boats left. These were the boats fisherman used in 1800s.
It's a tourist ship now - or windjammer. Lovely with the red flags up. Also shows other boats in Bar Harbor, Maine.

5. Egg Rock Island Lighthouse from the deck of Arcadia Sceanic Nature Tour Boat. Egg Rock Island contains a lighthouse that is automatically operated. They used to have someone stay there with their family and maintain it - but the weather made this dangerous and difficult, not to mention expensive, so they made it automatic. A year ago it broke and the fog horn didn't turn on when fog occurred. So they turned it on and now it blows pretty much all the time.

6. The rock Maine coastline along the Shore Walk, five minutes from our cottage. Our cottage used to be a caretaker's house to a large estate along the shore walk. My neice played on the rocks here, actually probably is still playing. She's not going home until Friday.
