Well, will do the open-house thing on Sunday, my window of time to buy my own flat is getting rapidly smaller and pressure is building. So no more endless procrastinating and off to do some looking. I don't have to buy anything after all - they are just open-houses. There's two flats (sigh apartments - I've spent too much time reading my flist who hails from countries that use the word "flat") near the church I'm currently infatuated with and in swank Brooklyn Heights. Both in elevator buildings, with doormen, and laundry. Plus the ever-coveted "roof deck". Personally? I'd be happy with a dishwasher at this point. So off to look after church tomorrow. It's cheaper for me to buy a place at this point than continue renting for forever and a day- particularly with the current environment.

Also posted things to Facebook - first time in 6 months. Be curious if anyone notices. I'm rarely on Facebook. It makes me edgy. I don't like being limited to 240 characters. That's too much like writing emails at work. I'm brief at work - believe it or not. Mostly because words can get one in trouble, so less is always best.

Deleted Persons Unknown from DVR this morning - decided it was a) too creepy for my taste, b) I didn't like any of the characters that much, and c) somewhat cliche - copied too many previous tv show set-ups regarding the same topic, but with a much poorer execution.

Watched Project Runway - the 90 minute length just means more pointless interviews with the designers, and more time spent with them gabbing in their rooms. I could do without this.
Although, will admit that I enjoy seeing them interact in the room after they get booted or win, which they did not have time to show us before in quite as much depth. This week's was rather dramatic in that two of the designers got booted, and the way they handled it? Was literally night and day. One was quite cold and angry, he just walked out. Refused to stay and refused to wait for Tim or to see what happened to the poor guy remaining on the runway. I can't say I blame him. I mean why subject yourself to more public humilation than is absolutely necessary? As one designer stated during last week's episode - "I think this is more about how do we torture designers than art." I'd have to agree. Reality shows are basically filmed social psychology experiments by sadistic amateurs, without the social psychologist. That said? Of the reality shows out there, Project Runway is the most tame in this regard, which may be why I watch it. It's sort of like Top Chef. I watch it to see what they create - that fascinates me, the design and how they do it. The increasingly fake theaterics and drama? I could do without. These people are not actors after all. And yes, I can tell some of this has been scripted.

Of the designs? I liked this week's better than last week's. And sort of agreed with who got booted. Although I'd have kept Nicholas around a bit longer. The winner? Have to say, I agreed with the designers - Valerie's red dress screamed Marie Claire. But Gretchen's? I'm more likely to wear or buy, well if I lost 100 pounds. Ugh, speaking of - my Aunt D posted a pick of me in Little Italy and I look horrific. Haven't looked good in a photograph since I was a kid. The camera hates grown up me - probably a good thing, I chose not to become an actress.

My favorite? Was actually Mondo's which was sort of cute. I liked how it was put together.

As for the cast of designers they have this year? Eh. Too soon to tell. But I liked last year's group much better. Casonova gets on my nerves. I'm sorry, I don't find him charming, I find him creepy. And Ivy is dull. Peach - I feel sorry for, she's a great at making the clothes, but has 0 imagination. No real shout-outs yet. But like I said, too soon to tell.

Oddly the dress that stuck out for me the most - was the yellow and black number. I also loved the purple pant-suit - I'd wear that. That was interesting. The one's chosen for bottom three? Meh.

Finished watching Friday Night Lights - adore this show, it's well written, and has a lot of adorable characters. I fall in love with Tim Riggins and Coach Taylor every season. But, it does not pass the Bechdel Test and while it is feminist in tone, it is clearly a show told through a decidedly male perspective, women are support or secondary in most cases. Dealing primarily with traditional or cliche female issues. I could have done without the abortion story, although they did it differently than I expected. In some respects I prefer this season to last one's - it's tighter, and addresses racism far better, along with classism - which in some respects is the bigger problem. The vast divide between rich and poor is depicted well here. It's not for everyone - people who don't like serial dramas about inter-personal relationships and no mysteries or puzzles to solve - most likely will hate it. But you never know.

Off to get laundry, make dinner, and watch True Blood.
