Honestly, the first time I saw that panel, I thought it was Giles too. I was like, "Why is Giles in lock-up?" XD
Say what you will about Urru - at least that was NEVER a problem. Urru is my god. His art and the Italian studio that does the colouring = my loves. I'm so biased-in-love with him. Hee. :D If I could keep the Lynch/Urru combo for my comic needs, I would. They get most things so right to me. Plus, Lynch really thinks about Spike- Spike wouldn't wear pajamas because he's the kind of guy that just has too much else on his mind to care about that sort of thing; naked/going commando is just easier and doesn't require any thought. XD And he seems to get the Angel/Spike dynamic really well- that uneasy camaraderie, the comforting familiarity of pseudo-familial annoyance. ^_~
I find it very, very strange that Angel never gains the insight that his father wasn't really such a bad guy. Even after 100+ years of a soul, Angel NEVER shows remorse for killing his parents; he's actually quite glib about it, like he thinks they still deserved what happened to them. He does seem to have remorse for killing his kid sister though. Spike, for someone who was supposed to be soulless and evil, killed his mother out of pure love and devotion. He attempts to be open about what happened ("The Wanton Folly of Me Mum" and talking to Wesley) as a coping mechanism, but his issues are still very present.
When Twilight was first introduced in the comics, I had a gut feeling it was Angel, but I had secretly hoped that it was a new character, one that was somehow loosely connected to the story somewhere in the past- like an ex-Watcher or a Techno-Pagan from Jenny Calendar's group or a former member of the Sunset Club who survived the attack by Spike's minions and began to seek out the destruction of all magical creatures and beings so that no one can fall prey to the same mistake he did. Something other than seeing the same bad guy again!
