Lately I often get the impression that stories just repeat themselves over and over. And though media critique is hardly totally new, it's never been so important to write a book that explains how a narrative is build in the media.
Exactly. The romance between Peeta and Katniss and how it's built in the media and manipulated is a fascinating commentary on what we are doing now with our celebrities or in particular reality shows - such as The Bachelor or Bacholerette - where fake romances are created between real people and perpetuated. It's not a new phenomenon or trope- Singing in the Rain has that conflict at its center. But here - she takes it to a whole new level.
There's so much underneath the surface in these novels to grapple with. I will most likely do a longer, spoilery meta later. This is my non-spoiler review for the people who haven't read it.
