Interesting! I share your love of The Sparrow, but I also love Atonement and House of Sand and Fog. (I did not necessarily love all the characters in those books, but I still loved the books).
I have purposefully not read American Psycho because I've heard the same thing from multiple people - that there are scenes that completely squicked them and they couldn't get out of their heads. And I don't even want to know what they are, so I've avoided it.
