Great Results of This Historic Election:

1. OBAMA WON! He got broad support across the country and the popular vote.

2. Plus, the GOP is getting a public reckoning. (OBAMA won on his coalition of women, youth, black, hispanic, and Asian votes.) While it held on to the House, it did it by a slight margin, and lost the Senate, which has a Democrat majority.

2. Women's voices were heard - Claire McCaskill defeated Todd Aiken in Missouri, and 19 Women Gained Seats in the US Senate. They are diverse and from various backgrounds. Elizabeth Warren is the first female US Senator from Massachustes! They also defeated all the men who supported Todd Aiken, including Murdoch.

3. Maine and Maryland passed Same-Sex Marriage Equality Acts, Minnesota defeated a BAN against Same-Sex Marriage and in Wisconsin Tammy Baldwin became the first openly gay woman to be elected to the US Senate!

This is wonderful. Things are getting better! After two weeks of hell, very happy.

All great things.

But I bet no one is happier than the folks living in Ohio, because at least the hell of constant political ads is over (for about three months).

Those poor swing states got inundated with ads. It was bad here, but worse there.

Each round - the election gets worse. Can you imagine what it would be like if the other parties had the money to inundate you with ads?

Speaking as someone in Indiana, we're even more excited than the rest of the country that Murdock got defeated. Unfortunately, we didn't manage to beat Mike Pence, so we're stuck with him as Governor (he's the one who pushed through the bill defunding Planned Parenthood in IN) but at least we got one Democratic victory.

I didn't realize Murdoch was Indiana. Yay for Indiana. You still went for Romney, but not completely.

Yeah, it was Indiana.

I mostly take comfort that Romney's support here was only 54%-- a majority, but not a huge majority. Hopefully in the future we can convince people to vote democratic a little more often.

That said, it's gonna be an interesting holiday season, as most of my relatives are pretty conservative.
