Watched last night's The Daily Show and was thoroughly entertained. I think I hurt myself laughing.
Wish I could share it - but...my write up just doesn't do it justice.

While in Fishkill - was watching The Colbert Show with the parents. Momster said that they got interested in Stephen Colbert after seeing him on a show with Bill O'Reilly and other ultra conservative talking heads. ( Parents are news, information and cultural junkies. Note the ultra-conservatives in the US are under still the delusion that they are actually "conservatives" . I have friends who are conservatives whose opinion I actually still respect - and, no they aren't bug-shagging crazy like the ultra-conservatives are.)

Reilly: You are no better than we are! You are broadcasting your opinion as news.
Colbert: No, I'm mocking the news. I'm not a broadcast journalist - I'm a comedian, on Comedy Central. My whole show is satire.

Yes, I gave up finally on the news and rushed off to comedy central's version for refuge. It's too frigging depressing.

Overslept this morning - ugh. So ran to work, or tried to. After the fourth flight of steps exiting the subway at Fulton - to race to the LIRR terminal at Atlantic Avenue, I was out of breath and panting. My commute is basically - walk two-three blocks to subway entrance, down three flights, walk another block to mid-platform (this I did at a run this morning since the train was coming) - read for ten minutes on train, out subway, walk half a block, down steps, walk another half a block, up steps, walk another half a block, up steps, walk three-four blocks, down steps, walk another three-four blocks - jump on train, relax (or sleep or read for 20-30 minutes) jump off train, down steps, five-six blocks into building. (I don't really need a gym workout each morning, do I?) Got to work 30 minutes late, but they were understanding - since this rarely happens. Stupid alarm clock.
But I did appreciate the extra hour of sleep.

Still plodding my way through Jim Butcher's Ghost Story. Okay, maybe it's just me...but this book has some major plot and exposition problems...which I may or may not describe in a review of it that I'm half-heartedly writing in my head.
