True. Applying morals to shows like these isn't necessarily productive. Over time - there's a clannishness....where anyone who isn't part of the central cast is acceptable cannon red-shirt fodder. Will state that The Walking Dead at least commented on it - where they had a character say: "I'd kill anyone for my friends or to keep my friends alive at this point." But in that world...it sort of makes sense, part of the whole thematic structure is how slowly over time one's humanity or ethics gets chipped away by the mere struggle to survive. In Vamp Diaries the characters actions aren't remotely justifiable and while the writers do comment on them...it's not quite enough.
