Yep, once a week. This week it was Vicki. Last week Stefan. Next week...probably the werewolf ghost.
But we have hope..Alaric is teaching her how to fight. And we got our first "Buffy" reference, courtesy of Damon. (Did Damon watch Buffy? Or just knows about it? It's only fair, considering BTVS referenced both the Scream movies and Dawson's Creek via Spike that Vamp Diaries reference Buffy via Damon.)
I like the fact that Elena is getting tougher. Even if she appears to be the main target each week.
