So, it's nothing like Hunger Games, but the book I've been recommending to anyone who asks for the last few years is Alcatraz versus the Evil Librarians (http://www.amazon.com/Alcatraz-Versus-Evil-Librarians/dp/0439925525/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1322112752&sr=8-1) by Brandon Sanderson. Also, sadly, not available on Kindle... but well worth reading, as are the sequels.
