The Disney references are due to the rights issue. The writers can only reference storybook characters that are in the public domain or owned by Disney without paying for copyrights, which tend to be expensive and tough to get. For example - they can't get the rights to Peter Pan, even though Disney has done a film version.

I sort of like how they are rewriting the Disney version. And I liked Jimny ...an improvement on the original.

So, no, it isn't really product placement. Mickey Mouse? Maybe.
(As opposed to Grimm which does do product placement - references to i-phone, ipod and ipad all within one episode.)

And yes, great to see Harry Groener again. ;-)
