Did you impose a hefty fine? I can't remember what libraries do in these situations. How do you get nitwit patrons to pay for damaging or stealing or throwing out books?

It does however explain the popularity of the Twilight and Fifty Shades books out there...too many repressed women with repressed and puritanical upbringings.
