As opposed to you, Romero's "Night of the living Dead" (the black and white movie) actually roused my interest in zombie flicks. Alas, Romero seems to be the only good zombie movie maker out there. ;-)
I wouldn't call "Hellraiser" a zombie movie. I got into "Hellraiser" after reading a Hellraiser comic book which was a merciless reckoning with the romantic and fascist aspects of the (comic book) super hero genre.
