You remind me (again!) that i really should read more English and US-American authors.
While I should be reading more authors outside of the English/US. It's hard. Harder than it should be. It's not that I haven't read non-US or non-English writers...it's just that often when I read them I'm relying on translation.
I think we tend to read whatever is readily available?
