Coolness! Yeah, I think you're right about new media. People feel like they can say anything, because they're anonymous. I liken some of the comments I see to tagging.. or folks just running around crapping on anything positive that they see. :-)
I do think there's a difference between substantive and/or constructive criticism, and just plain old bashing; or even, "I hated it" and here's why-- or "this gets 4 snaps in a Z formation"- kind of critique.
