All of this factual data about who does and does not pay taxes is kind of beside the point -- because the people who paid $50k for Mitt to speak to them clearly believe this to be true. As do large number of Republicans...
Because he is such a naked panderer, Mitt is a really good bellweather for what the Republicans think and want to hear. Truth aside, the right really does see the world as divided between "job creators" and "freeloaders" and none of Mitt's voters will see themselves as the latter.
