How did you come to start your LJ?
Was persuaded to try it by people on the ATPO Board (All Things Philosophical About BTVS and Angel).
How did you find your first friends?
Denizens of the ATPO and Buffy Cross and Stake Board
Are those first friends still on your FL?
Most yes.
How long have you been on LJ?
September 2003
Do you have more friends or communities on your FL?
More friends. Communities...not really into. I watch but never post on them.
Do you do a lot of friendscuts?
You mean flocks or friends locked posts? Yes, for personal items - which I don't want work-place, family or the someone from outside lj to see, also posts that are...controversial.
What do you like in an LJ friend?
Someone who posts on a wide variety of topics and is creative. Also I like honesty.
Plus respectful of my blood pressure, appreciates my snarky sense of humor and doesn't take my posts too seriously, has a sense of humor, and is tolerant of others interests, particularly interests and views that conflict with their own.
What do you dislike in an LJ friend?
Low tolerance for holier-than-thous, preachy, and trigger boys/girls. I'm a bit snarky and tend to make fun of myself and my tastes. Like people who can laugh at themselves.
Also not a fan of sexism, racism, and homophobia - but no one I've ever friended or who has friended me has shown those tendencies - that tends to be the crazy fringe.
What would make you un-friend someone immediately?
Insulting me, attacking me, or attacking others in my live journal - will get you defriended and banned fairly quickly. If I start fearing your responses - and the fact that they will send my blood-pressure sky-rocketing or your posts send it sky-rocketing, you are gone!
(During the Spike Wars, I had to get rid of a few B/A shippers who were making me crazy. LOL!)
Have you been caught up in a lot of LJ drama?
I was on LJ in 2003, at the height of the Spike/Angel wars. And was a Whedon fan and in the Whedon fandom. Yes, I saw drama. And got caught up in it, because, I was a Spike fan. Also, RaceFail, and FeministFail, and the sci-fi community going wonky. The Buffy Comics wars. It's tamer now. Not as much drama.
Do real-life friends and family members know you have a journal on LJ?
Yes. But they aren't on it and they don't read it and I don't show it to them. In a few rare situations - I've shared posts that I was proud of. There's a reason I use the name shadowkat67. (And guys, it is shadowkat with a "k" not a "c"...that one was already taken.)
Do you also have Facebook and if so, what do you prefer – LJ or FB?
Yes. Prefer LJ. Facebook isn't as private, not conduscive to writing, and not as much fun.
I do FB to stay in touch with family, college friends, old work colleagues, and people I've met.
What about Twitter?
Nope
Do you blog on any other sites?
I have a Dreamwidth, on which I normally crosspost LJ entries, and a Tumblr, which I'm rarely on because I don't understand the appeal frankly...it's pretty pictures, but mainly headache inducing to follow and the whole reblogging thing annoys me.
How often do you check in on LJ?
Frequently
What do you rarely or never post about?
I post about everything. But I don't tend to post about what I do each day or real life bits as much, mainly because I find it boring to post on.
Why don't you post about that?
See above.
Have you ever thought about deleting your journal?
All the time. Okay maybe not all the time, but at least once a month.
Have you ever changed your username?
Nope.
Why did you choose your current username?
Couldn't think of another one. And it was the one I was using already on the fanboards while writing meta - thought it would be easier for people who liked reading my meta or met me on the boards to follow me to lj - if I used the same name or close to it.
If you're looking for new friends, how do you find them?
Usually through flist or recs by flist or by them finding me.
Are you taking new people on to your Friends List just now?
Absolutely!
Finally, tell us the reasons why you keep an online journal.
Long time letter writer - who enjoys writing and corresponding about things with others. I like writing meta. I like posting reviews. Writing is a way for me to get rid of stress and tension and interact with others. I am a bit addicted to the blogging thing. And I love the fact that I can do it under an alias...that I am somewhat hidden.
