1. The Warehouse 13 episode written by Drew Z. Greenberg, and guest-starring James Marsters, Polly Walker, Lindsey Wagner, Roger Rees and Kate Mulgrew - can be found here:

It's campy as all get-out, seriously it is Syfy what do you expect? But the guest stars made me blink. Also, none of them have aged well...somewhat reassuring that. Plus, Marsters keeps playing versions of the same role over and over, with few exceptions. The exceptions aren't as good. I've decided over time that Marsters is a bit like Dusku- a one trick pony, albeit a better talented one. He reminds me at times of Anthony Geary who played Luke on General Hospital. Plays similar roles.

Trying to place Polly Walker - where have I seen her before? Warehouse 13 was co-created by Jane Espenson of all people. But it reminds me a great deal of the old 1990s anthology series - Friday the 13th - where a team of researchers hunts down dangerous relics. Except this version is less scary and more campy than that one was.

2. Doctor Who....the Cold War

Eh, more entertaining than last week, although that isn't hard. Was quite amusing in places actually...particularly liked the Doctor and Clara's entrance onto the submarine, which had apparently spun a nasty leak.

Doctor: "Helloo Vegas!"
Clara: This isn't Vegas.
Doctor: No quite. Actually it's even better.
Clara: How exactly? We're underwater, in a submarine, with lots of water and wet?
Doctor: It's actually a Russian Sub in the 1980s, Cold War - come on, this is cool!
Clara: Still not getting the appeal.

LOL!

Clara: We're not spies. I don't even speak Russian.
Doctor: Actually you are speaking Russian.
Clara: We're speaking Russian? How? Wait..do you mean to tell me that they are speaking Russian? (Doctor Nods) How are we understanding them?
Captain and crew look at Clara and Doctor suspiciously.
Doctor: This isn't exactly the best time to discuss this.
[Apparently the writer, Mark Gatiss is a fan of Farscape?]

And earlier...guy on Russian submarine decides to melt the professor's prehistoric discovery frozen in ice before they return to Moscow. I have no idea why. Just curious I guess. Or maybe he was just incredibly bored? Also, did they not air the John Carpenter horror flick The Thing in Russia? (Wait maybe that flick was made after the 1980s? Except there was an earlier version - so still no excuse. Every time I see someone do something like this in a horror movie - I think, now if people would just watch more horror movies these things would not happen. ) Anyhow it results in all sorts of mayhem. For a bit the story reminds me of Alien, except not as scary.

Oh...And up pops the actor who plays Davos on Game of Thrones. Again. This actor does get around, he was last seen on Merlin, well prior to GoT at any rate. This time he's portraying a Russian Sub Commander with a decisively British accent. I guess they couldn't find any Russian actors?

It was definitely fun in places. Still trying to place the actor who played the professor who had a fondness for Duran Duran and whose favorite song was Hungry Like a Wolf (I'm guessing for the metaphoric appeal?). And Clara stating yes she knows it - it's a favorite to sing at karaoke, which resulted in a blank look from the pop culture savvy professor.
Yep, karaoke was a 1990s invention.

Although I have to admit that I liked Angel the Series submarine episode better, this one definitely had its moments.

3. Smash - it's a shame, just as SMASH is beginning to get entertaining, it'll be cancelled. I actually like it better than anything else on NBC. Wait, am I watching anything else on NBC? No not really. Was watching Revolution for a bit, but grew tired of it - none of the characters really grabbed me, I liked SMASH better. And as you already know, I couldn't make it through the first two episodes of Grimm, without wandering off. It may have gotten better, but I didn't hang around to find out.

My favorite bits were actually Derek and Ivy, those two characters fascinate me. Everyone else...is okay.

I didn't think much of this week's Who - it was an idiot plot. Nothing would have happened if the stupid crewman hadn't melted the ice for no reason at all, and nothing would have happened if the Doctor had just fried the launching mechanism of the missiles, and nothing would have happened if they'd just used electricity against the critter who'd already proven vulnerable to electric shock. Meh.

(Also this was apparently the world's hugest submarine.)

The Professor was played by David Warner (I looked him up because he was very familiar to me too): http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001831/

And I thought you couldn't use a blow torch in a submarine because of the pressurized oxygen... ??

I haven't seen SMASH yet (I think it is the only thing I'm watching on NBC also).

Polly Walker was in HBO's Rome and the films Enchanted April & Patriot Games.

Smash is getting better and I'm glad that at least we're seeing pieces of Bombshell before the series ends.
