1. Vamp Diaries

* So Vamp!Elena's plan actually worked? She managed to get Jeremy to kill Cole, grow the tattoo, and free Damon from his compulsion? Granted she had a bit of help from Bonnie's Dad who had the foresight to put vervaine into the water supply. Unfortunately the vervaine helped Damon resist Klaus's compulsion, and aided Jeremy and Elena in disabling Cole.

Go Vamp!Elena, although...the downside is I actually liked Cole and ahem:

Elena: What will happen if Silas is raised?
Cole: He'll bring about hell on earth.
Elena: And why do you care?
Cole: Actually sort of like earth the way it is.

Sorry, Cole still wins the good guy vampire award. He actually cares about the world more than a cure, granted it's because he's in it - but seriously, who wouldn't be the same? Well, people who don't have much common sense - cue Vamp! Elena! Although to be fair, she has no way of knowing if Cole is right. And she needs the cure sooo badly.

* Bonnie - has decided she's her own and her magic is her own. She's not the spirits prize or her dead-beat parents, who haven't been there most of her life... Bonnie pushes them to the mat, rushes over to Elena's just in the nick of time - to stop Klaus from killing Jeremy and Elena. She traps Klaus inside the house with a spell.

*Damon who Stefan left Klaus with, and Klaus compelled to stay...also manages to get back to Team Elena's house, and joins up with the gang. He has a rather interesting discussion with Klaus about the power of forgiveness. Klaus wonders how he gets everyone to forgive him, namely Elena. (Also reminds us that Stefan defied his compulsion to feed off Elena...while Damon couldn't defy it to avoid killing Jeremy. I beg to differ - he tracked Jere in slow-mo, giving Jere and Elena and Stefan plenty of opportunity to kill him. But whatever. ) Damon states that he does bad stuff cause it has to be done, he has a reason. Klaus just does it to be a dick. He killed Tyler's Mom Carol for no reason. Klaus states debatable. And I'm thinking, yep. Because...Damon hon, your mindfuckery and feeding off of poor compelled Caroline in S1 - was dick behavior, not bad-ass behavior. As was snapping Jere's neck in S2. Granted, Stefan's ripper behavior falls in the same category. [In my opinion there isn't all that much difference between Klaus, Stefan and Damon - except Damon has the best chest and eyes. Also a sense of humor...which Klaus and Stefan appear to lack...both take themselves far too seriously. A little more snark fellas, a little less brood. Although Stefan admittedly has pretty eyes that brood well.]

* Stefan has a redeeming conversation with Rebekkah, as well as an enlightening one.

Stefan: Lexie was great.
Rebekka: You slept with her.
Stefan: No that wasn't it. I was a better person around her. Didn't find that again until...
Rebekkah: Elena. She made you be a better person.
Stefan: Yeah, but that's over now.

Too bad he couldn't do the same for Elena.

Rebekkah tells Stefan that she just wants to be human, to have a human life, to go to the prom, to have children, to have a life. So Stefan chooses not to dagger her again - after she freely hands it to him. He also tells her about Cole and why they had to kill him - to find the cure. That Cole was out of control. Bekka wants the cure so bad and wants to trust Stef so bad - she agrees and gives him Silas' headstone and the dagger.

I've become a Stefan/Rebekkah shipper. Love that pairing. He's a more interesting character with Bekkah.

* Caroline and Tyler appear to be out of the story now?? Which may be a good thing...greater longevity. Also clearly no one was sired by Cole. Lucky Elena.

I still think Jeremy is going to get killed by the end of this. Along with possibly Bonnie or
Rebekkah. Leaving many characters with "GUILT". Actually they are setting up both Rebekkah and Jeremy for the ax in my opinion. Stefan and Elena care deeply about them - and of all the characters, Stefan and Elena are the most passionate about finding the cure for Elena, albeit for different reasons. Also Klaus who started the whole thing in motion. Losing another sibling because of it - will hurt big time.

2. Merlin

I'm enjoying Merlin this year. Although Morgana is starting to feel a bit like Wile E. Coyote...they keep throwing her off the cliff, she keeps getting up again.

The bonding bro-romance between Merlin and Arthur...has gotten more layered. Also, the actors have great chemistry. What I'm enjoying though is Merlin is telling Arthur more and more what he thinks and acts as sort of Arthur's moral center/compass. Reminding Arthur of who he is, and that he does not have to be his father.

I wonder if Morgana would have sought a different path if she'd had Merlin at her side instead of Morghaust? Or even Gwen? If Gwen had been Morgana's friend not Arthur's?

Uther poisoned both, but Arthur unlike Morgana had Merlin and Gwen counter Uther's poison.

Gwen has gotten a bit more layered as well - in one episode she threatens to execute a gal, to get her father. I have the feeling this may back-fire on Gwen down the road...the gal escaped with her Dad (Morgana's henchman), who was killed. Morgana has the worst luck in henchman.

Not sure why Morgana's pet dragon can't talk or what happened to him. This hasn't been explained.

3. Finished watching most of Glee...eh, the musical numbers are still better than the writing. I get that it is a satire, but it's a bit...over the top, and losing it's characters in the process, again. Although it does appear to be addressing bulmia, finally - although in a weird way.

God yes, although I loved Damon punching him.

Both those conversations were interesting and enlightening. Because they all have their own twisted views of their evil deeds.

Looking forward to seeing their little trip to Canada next week.

A lot of people think Merlin should have told Morgana about his magic in Season 2 but I'm not one of them. I think Morgana is too like Uther in her attitude to Merlin as "just a servant" to have accepted advice from him in the way Arthur did.

Actually they are setting up both Rebekkah and Jeremy for the ax in my opinion.

This is where knowing about the CW greenlighting a spinoff tweaks my expectations. I didn't really think they'd kill Kol, because don't they need a surplus for two shows?
