OUAT: tonight's episode...

Favorite line?

Emma to her two fighting suitors (both bad boys by the way): Let me set the record straight here - for both of you. The only person I have room in my heart right now for is Henry. He's the love of my life.



1. So we're back in Storybrook - three important things happen 1) Belle manages to enact the cloaking/protection spell that prevents outsiders from entering Storybrook and anyone from leaving it - per Rumple's instructions. 2) But not alas, before grown-up and relatively preserved versions of John and Michael Darling pop up to attempt to stop Aerial from obtaining the item Rumple needs to defeat Pan. 3) Aerial pops up and they find what Rumple wanted - turns out to be Pandora's box filled with the darkest magic, which apparently doesn't phase Belle one wit, but does worry Aerial.

2. Is it just me or are the villains in this story always five steps ahead of everyone?
Pan felt Aerial leave Neverland and immediately sent someone to stop her from doing whatever she'd gone off to do. (John and Michael Darling - he's relying on smarter henchmen with something to lose this round...except unfortunately, less effective. Belle and Aerial easily foil them...not Pan's fault, I wouldn't have foreseen that either.). I don't know how Pan figured out what Aerial was doing or why she left. (Did Flynn tell him? Can't remember. It didn't tape, had to watch on time-delay due to issues with DVR). This boy seems a bit too clever.

3. Emma rocked in this episode. She's stuck between two hot bad boys (okay I think they are both hot, your mileage may vary), and trying desperately to search for her kid and get her kid off the island. Also her track record with bad boys hasn't been the greatest. I rather liked how she dealt with them - which was - look I have no time for this stupid love triangle, nor do I need to choose between you - I'm not interested in either of you. Got it?
Right now, I need to focus on Henry, so back off.

And when they both get grabbed, with the shadow attempting to rip theirs away - instead of choosing which to save, Emma ignores them, uses her magic to light the candle and traps Pan's shadow in the coconut. Solves the problem perfectly. Which as she points out - would not have been necessary if they hadn't felt the need to fight over the lighter like 12 year olds.

Emma: For your information, I'm not interested in either of you. The only person I have room in my heart for - is Henry.

4. Interesting that the shadow can get them off the island. So what do they do exactly? All hang on to the coconut is one long string while navigating it to Storybrook?

5. And we discover who is in the other cage. Turns out we were all wrong. It wasn't Tinkerbell or Rumple's father - but rather Wendy Darling. (I honestly did not see that coming. But why would I? They lead me to believe that Baelfire had saved her.) Which is interesting and sort of fits with the tale of Peter Pan. Wendy wants to leave, he holds her captive, she gets sick, they have to get her medicine. Finally he's forced to take her and her brothers home. (I can't remember the story well enough to know exactly how it goes, but I vaguely remember Wendy getting sick and needing medicine.) Honestly, she's the same age as Baelfire is now. Except he aged, she didn't. How will Neal react when he sees her again?
I hope we don't get a quadrangle of doom out of this. She does however provide Henry with a damsel to save - hence the reason Pan brought her out and kept her captive all this time.

And Henry fell for Pan's trick hook line and sinker. Hook's doing a better job of foiling Pan's games than anyone else is, partly because he's had more experience with the little trickster. Pan's a trickster villain - and they are admittedly difficult to defeat.

6. Baelfire and Tink appear to have had a thing - there was a brief flicker there.

7. Snow finally talks to Charming - after giving him the cold shoulder for 50% of the episode, not that he didn't deserve it. And his explanation was admittedly lame - but I thought that five episodes ago. Although - if they stay together in Neverland (which isn't going to happen) - they abandon Emma again. Making her an orphan again. Pan wins.

8. Wonder what Pandora's box is going to do. In the legend it unleashes the seven deadly sins into the world. At least if memory serves...that's what it does. Rumple likes to collect deadly things. Wonder what else he has in his curio shop? And why doesn't the fact that Rumple has Pandora's box - give Belle pause? It made Aerial a little wary. Belle's like - oh no, I'm sure it's all fine, yes it holds the darkest evil - but this sort of cool in a way and we should get it to Rumple, to use however he wishes - because there's no way he'd hurt anyone we care about. It's not like he has before...

You can see why Rumple loves her...she's a bit dense. Innocent, loving, and...completely blind to all his faults. They say love is blind, but I honestly think that's just Belle.

Not my favourite episode because Belle is the worst. Also love triangles are as always the laziest plot ever. I was however amused by the dwarves noting that things are a lot better with Snow and the rest gone - less murders and drama. Also I enjoyed that the Darling boys looked like they were an invading force of hipsters. I do wonder with all the crouching and careful positioning when Henry is standing next to Pan if the kid playing Henry is in the midst of a growth spurt - I don't think it was the best idea for the show to remind us of how little time is supposed to have passed since the start of the season.

The show keeps surprising me in good ways - this time about Darlings and the Neal and Hook and Emma's reaction.

But Belle is getting worse and worse - I liked her a lot in Skin Deep, and kept hoping for some interesting development, but alas.

At least Ariel is supposed to be dorky and naive about humans.

I had the same thought about hipster Darlings (or Darling hipsters? both ways it sounds ironic.

I wondered about dwarves noting the peace and quiet without Snow and Charming, when I would think they enjoy absense Regina and Rumple, though.

I was glad to see Henry get to be proactive in this episode, as he's spent the previous six sitting on a log for the most part, or getting knocked out, or playing Pan's game for two minutes and then returning to his log.

Of course, he still hasn't learned his parents skepticism about things, so he gets duped in his desire to play hero.

Arial - is the text font.

Aerial - is an actual word meaning to operate in the air. Janine is an aerial gymnast working for the Cirque du Soleil. And you know, it's possible that Ariel could be working or operating in the air, since the name Ariel is a derivative of the word aerial.

Dyslexic (other words are also used, but this is the most prevalent) - is someone who unknowingly flips words, types a like-sounding word instead of the one they meant to use. And often can't see it.

*Auto-correct and auto-check also has a tendency to use like-sounding words instead of the one the writer meant. Particularly in the case of personal names.


Ariel - is the name of Shakespeare character in the Tempest.

Yes, you would think they'd be happier about Regina and Rumple's disappearance, although to be fair - Regina and Rumple never really do much of anything unless it's against the Charmings.

I'd agree - not a favorite of mine either. It was sort of the Dumb and the Dumber episode of OUAT (with Ariel as Dumb and Belle as Dumber). You should have seen the bits I deleted. Not a fan of Belle - she's written so poorly, and can the woman be any more stupid? Seriously? She thinks Rumple and Regina would save Wendy?

Also agree on the love triangle...the only saving grace was Emma's tag line.
I so don't have time for this - bug off, all I care about is Henry.

Dwarves were the best thing in the episode. And the Darling boys looking like invading hipsters - was classic. (thought much the same thing, particularly since I've experienced it - 95% of my nieghborhood now resembles the Darling boys.)

Maybe that's why they had Henry stuck on a log for the last five episodes?

Okay, but you did say you couldn't comment about anything else because of the distraction...which came off as an attack.

I make mistakes in my posts. It's in my intro material. I write them rapidly, no time to edit. And I can't edit the next day (no access). I know there are folks who painstakingly beta each post prior to posting. But that's never been how I've done things.

For future reference? Best way is to either send a message or say, oops, it should be Ariel not Aerial. But honestly? Why does it matter?

You're right...Belle hasn't had any character development since Skin Deep and possibly Lacy, if anything she's slid backwards. The animated version had more personality - and that's a problem. I don't know if they are trying to be satirical with Belle or just haven't given it much thought?

Henry has definitely been sidelined until now. I was rather glad to see him doing something finally.

And you're right - there's no way he would have been able to see through Peter Pan. Also Pan's ploy with Wendy was right out of the stories which Henry read.
Good casting on Wendy by the way. Also John and Michael. They look like semi-grown-up versions of the kids.
