Okay...admittedly didn't exactly see that twist..
* First? Loved this:
Charming: Flying Monkeys
Regina: Green Smoke...I think we all know who cursed us-
Emma: The Wicked Witch of the West? (meaning it as a joke)
Regina: nods
Emma: Seriously? She's real too?
Hook: Says the daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming.
Emma: But we're not in Kansas, what's the Wicked Witch doing here?
Also...
Evil Queen: It's the Wicked Witch
Grumpy: Who, from here?
Belle: No from OZ.
Robin: East or West?
Grumpy: What's it matter?
Robin: well, we sort of need to know whether we drop a house on her or throw water on Her
* Well, I was right all roads do lead back to Rumple, and Cora apparently. [I just didn't quite see it happening in that way. It never occurred to me that Regina and Wicked were related...apparently the bad apple doesn't fall that far from the tree? Let's see we have the Queen of Hearts and her two daughters, the Wicked Witch of the West and the Evil Queen. Talk about your family issues.]
So...The Witch, Selena (not Elpshaba - which I'm pleased about, because I can spell Selena), turns out to be Cora's daughter, born before Regina aka Regina's half-sister. I'm willing to bet money she's Rumplestilskin's kid - which would explain the green skin, either that or Cora got it on with a leprechaun. Rumplestilskin and Cora met and slept together after Rumplestilskin became the dark one - so Selena would most likely have been affected by that, while Neal/Baelfire wasn't. Although Selena doesn't appear to know.
But since they are dead. Regina is getting the brunt of the Wicked Witch revenge scheme.
Apparently Cora abandoned Selena in OZ. Cora really got around. Actually Cora and Rumple seemed to leave disaster where-ever they went.
* Speaking of Rumple...guess who the Wicked Witch (aka Selena) decided to bring with her to Storybrook? Except he's crazy again. So more Rumplestilskin than Mr. Gold, and in a cage.
A beast again. [I'm agreeing with Rumple, she shouldn't have brought him back - she will live to regret it. Although I personally am pleased she did.]
Also, no sign of Neal. (Please not a flying monkey.)
Charming: well, we know what is happening to the missing people in Storybrook - they are being turned into flying monkeys.
Emma: Do you think that's what happened to Neal?
Charming: It's possible but we don't know yet...
Emma: Well, it won't be the first flying monkey I dated
Charming and Snow (What???)
[Again, please don't have Neal turned into a flying monkey. Although that would be a fitting punishment for Rumple.]
I'm not surprised they brought him back - he's too interesting a character not to. Sort of relieved they did actually - since I adore the character, he's fun to watch. There's a lot of depth there. But, he certainly was busy creating problems bound to come back and bite him in the butt, wasn't he?
* For a moment I was worried that Emma didn't trust Regina and we were going to have three episodes like the second season where everyone wanders about blaming Regina, and Regina acts nasty in self-defense. Her coping mechanism is becoming the "evil queen". I like that metaphor by the way, Regina isn't a villain, she became one, ironically enough through Snow's attempt to have a Mom way back when. But here - she worked in concert with Emma - in attempt to trick the person who cursed the town and create a memory potion to cure it. When it became impossible to create the memory potion - they came up with a new plan to root out the culprit and then shared info, which revealed who it was.
There's some good scenes in there...such as Regina and Emma going on a stake out in Emma's tiny yellow VW bug.
Regina: So is this what you do?
Emma: Yes, it's called a stake out.
Regina: Don't you get bored?
Emma: Well, I find ways to pass the time...eat, talk, watch..
And Emma tells Regina that she came back in part because she remembered what happened there and if Henry remembered he'd tell her to do it too.
Regina: Thank you for believing me. Although, why did you?
Emma: I may not be able to tell when everyone is lying. But I can always tell when you are lying.
Regina: How do you know, I'm not in on it? I'd do anything to get Henry back. I can't live without him.
Emma: See, still not lying.
The two women have bonded over their love for Henry. And Emma attempts to get Regina closer to him. But Henry like any teenage boy is more interested in playing his video game and isn't really clear on why they are in Storybrook.
* And we get a bit of Robin and Regina interplay. With Regina saving his son from the flying monkeys...she turned one into a stuffed animal, nifty. And Robin attempting to stop her from committing suicide by needle...(Snow stopped her from removing her heart but not from taking other measures). Selena stops her from committing suicide - because that would interfere with her Revenge plans. Not quite sure how she plans on punishing Regina...as Regina states she's already lost everything. And bringing her back to Storybrook - sort of enables a possible reunion with Henry, so how does that help? Wouldn't it have made more sense to keep her in the Enchanted Forest? Unless, she doesn't know about Henry? In which case, if I were Emma, I'd work to keep that under-wraps.
