Saw the most recent Doctor Who last night...and I'm not really loving this season. Although it does have some interesting themes emerging - every episode references : Soliders. The solider is either the misunderstood monster, or someone who is killed under the Doctor's watch, or someone reluctantly assisting him. Not sure what's up with the solider theme.

And the Doctor reminds me a lot of Gregory House. Peter Capadili's acting style is somewhat similar to Hugh Laurie's. While I liked House, a lot, as a character, I'm not sure the Sherlock/House bit works well for Doctor Who - it's somewhat irritating. The Doctor can be a bit of a smug overbearing jerk to begin with, it doesn't need emphasis.
Also, I'm missing his wacky sense of humor. Nine was serious, but less frenetic, and had a wry wit. Ten was frenetic, but less serious somehow. I get that he's supposed to be world-weary, but I'm finding watching him to be well wearing at times. If that makes sense?

Any how, I didn't think I'd say this - but I'm missing Matt Smith's Eleven much more than I thought I would. And well River Song. Clara, I like well enough, but she too grates at times, again not quite sure why.

I'm guessing I'm in the minority on this? Although is anyone in the minority on anything really?

Off to watch Toy Story Night of Terror.

I'm afraid I adore Capaldi, and find Clara far less irritating then I used to now she's paired with him. :)

:Sticks hand up:

Another Capaldi fan here. I like the way his Doctor harks back to the Doctors of yesteryear.
