Okay, novel update or how to self-publish your novel on Create-Space without worrying yourself into a tizzy.

1. Approved the Proof. (It actually arrived in 3 days. They stated 7. Create Space is FAST). And it was perfect. Just as advertised. Once I did - the book was automatically published to the Create Space E-Store. It will be available on the other distribution channels within 6-8 days (Amazon) and 6-8 weeks (other retail outlets).

2. Set up Good Reads Author Profile - which was not easy. You have to send them info, and they'll contact you once they approve it. Then you can edit your page, etc. Also they assign books to you that you did not write. Dang it. I sent information stating, no wrote this book but NOT a book on Linking Learning Education which is by someone named Jeanie Kay. (I am not Jeanie Kay, that's not even my name. Nothing close.)

It's impossible to upload a photo, I'm guessing until you get access to the author page.
Was able to put up information on it though.

3. Tweeted it - to what amounts to four followers. Which, seems silly but oh well. I should put it on Tumblr too. (Just did.) Also posted on Dreamwidth and Livejournal (I think I just outed myself on both, although people probably already know anyhow.) And on Facebook. Also set up a Facebook page for the book. But I can't figure out how to post the cover on it. So the cover is currently a thumbnail photograph. I adore the cover.
Love it to pieces. It's so perfect.

4. Set up tax information, account information, pricing ($12.50 US, they won't let you go below 10.33), royalty information, channels. Ended up setting up the taxes three times, no make that four times. Twice on Create Space and twice on KDP (The Kindle Publishing Platform).

5. Set up Kindle Conversion. Sent Kindle email address to createspace folks so they could download the conversion.

Now comes the tough part - promoting and selling the thing. I hate that part. I'm not a sales person. It grates on my nerves when other people do it. Apparently I should set up a book blog. But I like the blog I'm on - livejournal. Which actually has readers.
Wondering if I can just use this blog? Or the Dreamwidth one? Do I actually have to set up yet another blog? Seriously, who has the time? I have full time day job - which is exhausting. And no access to personal blogs from the day job. Also who is going to read the book blog?

Who am I kidding, I have enough troubles keeping track of the social media that I'm already on. Don't need to add more.

Suppose I could just do a book blog on Good Reads? Am tempted to do Word Press. I tried Blogger ages ago, but lost track of it. Also had My Space for a bit, but it didn't work for me (or anyone else apparently, since it's defunct now.)

In other news, besides the Proof of my novel, I got the new Kindle Paperwhite. It's a lot smaller than my previous Kindle, although the screen is actually the same size.
Which is odd. Instead of the keyboard, it has a touch screen similar to the Ipad.
Actually it reminds me of a tiny Ipad, sans the glare and all the distractions. Charged really fast - much faster than the previous Kindle did. And was much easier to set up.

So today was a stellar day for books. My novel was launched on Cinco De Mayo, the same date that my friend's baby was born. I lit a candle in my window for her. We have a candle lighting chain. People in the chain call one another to ensure that we all are lighting a candle for the new baby in solidarity. I got three phone calls today informing me that the little one was on the way. It was so wonderful and exciting.
