May. 10th, 2015 09:18 amHave decided to take a break from the book promoting. It's not quite fully out yet anyhow. Was obsessing over it this week.
Caught up on some television over the weekend.
*Call The Midwife continues to be a heartwarming pleasure. Wish there were more series like this out there.
*Gotham -- not your parents Batman, or your kids for that matter. It's for one thing a heck of a lot darker. The story is not following the canon. And the characters are a bit more complex. But it is by far the best version of a graphic novel on television that I've seen to date. (I always liked the darker, more noir, subversive, superhero comics - the bubblegum comic books were fun but sort of predictable. ie. I liked the Dark Knight Rises more than Spiderman. So it's hardly surprising that I find Gotham more compelling than Marvel Agents of Shield (which is sort of predictable and silly.) )
*Nashville - the music continues to be better than the script. I mainly watch for the music.
*Grey's Anatomy -- last week's episode was better. Strange, it doesn't quite feel like an entire year has passed. Also they appear to have run out of things to do with Owen. That character has been drifting for a while now.
* Vampire Diaries - Yep, they killed her. I knew they would the moment that Damon agreed to take the cure. For a while, I wondered if they would just simply have her move away like Jeremy had and become a Doctor. But when Damon agreed to go with her...that was it. Because they are only writing out Elena, not Damon. Also the writers stated early on that the series was mainly about the brother relationship, or Stefan and Damon, not Elena. That's the risk of revealing an actor is leaving a show -- the audience sort of knows the character is dead, if there is no other way they can figure out to write them out.
In a way, it opens up the show a bit more. Makes it less about Elena, although the show moved away from Elena some time ago. And makes Damon - a bit more edgy, again. Curious, Damon as a human was sweet, aimless, weak, and caring according to Stefan. Reminds me of Spike on Buffy. Seems to be a popular trope in literature. Certainly one that I'm fond of.
Anyhow, not surprised. Am curious if Jo is actually dead. At the very least, the twins are.
