I've decided to do an author blog on Good Reads. As far as I can tell, I'm just talking to myself. But I have managed to pick up five followers. I'm too lazy to set up my own author website/blog. Maybe I'll do it - if I ever become a full time writer. Right now? No time.

Latest Good Reads Blog Post:

So, I was chatting with my Russian co-worker at work today. Or cubicle mate, he's shares a cubicle wall with me. Total sweetheart. His wife just had a little girl about two months ago. And they immigrated to the US from Moscow, Russia in 2001. Every once and a while we have chats about the differences between our two countries and why living in Russia is not a good idea. Anyhow, today we were chatting about my book.

Russian Co-worker: How's the book promoting going?
Me: Well, I made two more sales, possibly three today. To co-workers.
Coworker: So you're selling locally.
Me: Hey, it's something. Also apparently have some interest on Good Reads, although no clue if anyone has actually read it or bought it. But there's interest.
Admistrative Assistant: Her book's amazing. I'm really enjoying it. I'm already on page 88. The characters are so real and familiar. And it's really funny.
Me: Oh thank you! (Now, when you finish it, could you rate it favorably on Amazon?)

So, progress? Also, randomly left fliers on the Long Island Railroad, going to and from work the last two days. I have an hour commute each day from Brooklyn to Jamaica, Queens. (Not the island Jamaica, if that were the case - I'd stay on the island). It's not bad - I get a lot reading done. Read on average a book a week. For a while I was binge-reading romance novels, now on a sci-fantasy binge, prior to that mystery novels, which like the romance novels, I eventually burned out on. Interspersed was literary fiction and young adult. I'll read anything. I love reading, writing and books. As a kid, I slept with my books.

One site wanted to know what my favorite book was. I drew a blank. Finally just picked Dorothy Dunnett's Checkmate. But seriously? It changes like the weather. I don't know what it is. Be like picking a favorite child.

I bought it on my kindle sometime last week (through amazon.de; no idea if it makes a difference) and I'm going to read it next week when I go on vacation because I need some lighter fare.

Thank you! Hope you enjoy it.

Not sure if it works as lighter fare...;-)

If you do enjoy it, please review on Amazon. Or at least rate it.
Thanks!

I've been reading non-fiction and memoirs about rape, death and dysfuncitonal childhoods lately. I think it will work as lighter fare ;) I'm always hunting down books about race and humor and those are often surprisingly depressing (or at least those are the ones I enjoy) and I read them not only for fun but also work, so anything that's not read with "you could write about this" in mind is lighter fare.

And I will make an effort to post a review.

I can guarantee that there is no rape or sexual violence in the book of any kind. (I made a conscious choice not to do that, having grown sick of reading it and watching it.) Also no death, no murder, and the violence is rather minimal. It's there, but no where near what you're used to.

There is some dysfunctional family/childhood stuff - but all stories have that. It's not pronounced...I mean it's important, but the story contains other things, if that makes sense?

It's an irreverent brand of humor - but if you've been reading this blog for a bit, you're probably used to it by now. My co-workers certainly are. I deal with the darkness in life by poking fun at it.

Anyhow, really hope you like it. So far people appear to be enjoying it.
