1. I am addicted to sugar. Most notably peeps. Yes, those colored sugar covered marhmellows shaped into things like pumpkins, chickens, christmas trees, and easter eggs. They are truly evil. Peeps should be illegal - like cocaine. Marijiuana made legal - because really it's not that addictive or bad for you. But peeps...

2. Heard a quote this morning that stuck with me, from Richard Coles book about Children and Spirituality. Coles is Harvard Psychologist who interviewed children between the ages of 6-12 regarding items such as spirituality, politics, etc. Anyhow, the quote was this: "When he had asked Children to draw what they considered or thought God was - the vast majority, about 65% drew a face. The face resembled what the child looked like. Children from Holland drew a face with blond hair and blue eyes, Children from Italy drew one with black eyes and black hair, while brown children drew brown and white children white, etc. But it was always a face, not a body. Children who were Jewish or Muslim did not know what to draw - because to draw god in their religion was blasphemous, so they drew mozaic tiles or patterns. Athesist and Agnostic children (whose parents were these things), drew other things enitrely. One child for example informed the interviewer than he needed more colors, that just a box of 6 crayons was not nearly enough. Nor was box of 64, but he could maybe handle that - then he drew a rainbow - that was how he saw God. Hopi and Raviti(sp?) children drew the sky. Some children drew the wind. Others a twister or funnel cloud or tornado, some put a face on the tornado. One child drew a huge shadow covering the earth. Then the children were asked to share their drawings with each other. Which they did. Commenting solely on how nice the drawing was or how interesting. What they did not do was enter int a debate or tell the artist that their drawing was wrong or judge it in any way, understanding intuitively that this was a deeply personal thing. When asked, they said as much to interviewers - one's view of God or lack thereof is deeply personal, and individual, it is to be respected and not debated. (not using those words of course.). It was discovered during these interviews that children search for meaning in the world."

What hit me as interesting is the children were fairly tolerant of one another's beliefs, they did not feel the need to impose their own on to the other children or debate it, instead each painting was view with respect.

Sometimes I think exchanging spiritual views not necessarily religious ones (there is a difference, for one thing, one has rules, and one does not), is a bit like coming to a pot-luck dinner - where we all bring a dish to share with others. Some people just can't eat our dish - due to allergies or food resistence, other just don't like the taste, while others love it to pieces, but all thank us for taking the time to make it and share it all the same.

3. Lovely weekend. Half sorry don't have a beach or a deck where I can just bask in sunshine.
But, I did take a walk to the promenade and looked out at the city. A picaturesque view.

4. Should be making a dent in my DVR. It's over crowded. And will start deleting tv shows soon if I'm not careful. Watched last week's Mad Men today, the sound went out halfway through, so I had to put it on closed captioning and read the subtitles. I wasn't thrilled with it, or last week's episode all that much. But the prior two weeks were fantastic. I laughed my head off during the episode featuring Ms. Blankenship, and the one before with Don/Peggy - still haunts me.
That said, this season in my opinion is by far the best season of Mad Men to date, possibly because we haven't had to see much of Betty Draper, now Francis, who I find duller than a doorknob.

LOL! I've seen those, but not this year. I think it's the cuteness factor, plus the sweet that does me in. ;-)

Best Friend came over last night and actually brought me some because I had complained to her about not finding them. And they're really, really good.
