1. I've decided the appeal of Tumblr is the pretty pictures and it's probably much easier to play with on iphones and ipads than well live journal or other blogs. Also like FB, you can just like a post or re-share it, similar to twitter. No reply necessary.

And it's easier to post vids, pictures, GIF's etc to it. So yes, pretty pictures. Also some...wonky people but hello, internet.

2. Got this lovely quote off of Tumblr:

That’s what careless words do. They make people love you a little less.
— Arundhati Roy, The God of Small Things (via larmoyante)

Unfortunately, very true. But not a heck of a lot you can do about that. Guess you could not say anything. Or be more careful? Except, I think everyone suffers a bit from foot in mouth disease - particularly on the internet. Letters and snail mail, made it easier. The trick is to brush off the words. Not let them sink in like swords, but instead bounce off like balloons. Or if they must sink in be like bubbles, light, and pretty.

3. Talked to my mother, who apprised me of current events, ie. Syria and Europe's reaction to the Syrian refuges. [Yes, I've been avoiding the news. It's depressing. I can't do anything about it. Why depress myself by watching or reading it? There is admittedly a certain ostrich mentality regarding this...]

Germany apparently has agreed to house over 300,000 refuges. Yay, Germany. Although, I'm not quite sure how Germany is going to be able to house 300,000 refugees. It's about the size of the state of Montana.

England also has a problem - it's a small country too - and already pretty crowded. I'm not sure 300,000 people would fit?

England, Germany, and Ireland could all fit in the state of Texas. The massive size of US freaks out people all the time. You can travel for two weeks and still be in the same country. China, I've heard is similar. There are people who never leave the US, they just travel around it.

Hmmm...maybe the US could take a few? Or Canada? Maybe Australia? The bigger countries with more land mass? Apparently Donald Trump offered...which I found surprising. (No, it's just the Mexicans he wants to keep out...which is also a heavy political voting block, but never mind.)

The US is after all a nation of immigrants, pretty much 90% of the population descended from immigrants. We should have an open door policy. I mean, if it didn't, I wouldn't be alive.
