1. Current writing projects:

Working Title: space book because I can't think of an appropriate title at the moment, but it will come to me.
Words: 62,032
pages: 149
genre: noir-mystery, science-fiction story

based loosely on an outline and world bible that I developed in my 20s.

Secondary writing project:

Working Title: The Sanctity of Water
Words:1382 words
pages: 3
genre: post-apocalyptic sci-fi adventure story

Pre-plotted in my head.

Goal to complete one of the two by the end of this year or Feb, 2016. Then see if I can revise and do anything further with it.

2. After reading Doing Time on Planet Earth, my father thinks I should start writing essays about various places around NYC. That people reading my lj etc...would be interested. I don't know. It's not like others don't do it too. Would you be interested in essays about various places in NYC? Assuming anyone is still reading this journal...I can never quite tell. People do pop up every once and a while....with a random comment here and there. Usually it's to correct me on something or other.
Why is that? Do I attract this sort of thing? Ponders. Maybe, maybe not. I get other comments to.
Crappy about responding though -- no time. Sorry about that.

I do read! Just too buried in Nano to write even a semi-literate response to anything. I personally am not a big reader of essays and sketches, but that's just me.

I'm the last person who can legitimately complain about people not responding to my posts. It's not like I comment that often on others posts. I tend to lurk mostly or scroll through them. Too busy to do much else -- since I can no longer access LJ from my work place.

I'm mainly on LJ for the Buffyverse fandom, so when your posts contain related content, I read.

I think NYC is the greatest city in the world, so I'd be interested in your essays about NYC places. Maybe a tag to call them out would help readers (either those interested or uninterested)?

Mmmmmaybe? You certainly wrote well about them in the book, so if you feel inspired, why not? In the end you could always bundle them together & publish them! :)

Speaking entirely for myself, I'm more interested in people and their lives than just places per se. I'd have some interest in short short stories that would be based on some individual you met on your travels throughout the city-- not necessarily friends or aquaintances, but, say, a person you saw on the subway or in a venue who looked like they might be interesting, You could extrapolate either a possible real-world or fantasy story that began with that meeting, and went on from there. The place or venue could serve as the launching point.

As you know, sometimes these initial short pieces can take on a life of their own and grow much, much longer.

Q: Is your book available in hardback, or only paper? Either way, could I purchase a copy from you directly so you'd get all the money instead of just a cut?

Q: Is your book available in hardback, or only paper?

Paperback (it's a nice paperback or a large paperback) and Kindle only. Wickedly expensive to publish it in hardback.

Either way, could I purchase a copy from you directly so you'd get all the money instead of just a cut?

Well, yes. But it's a lot easier not to mention quicker for all concerned to just purchase it from Amazon. It also raises my sales ratio on Amazon. Purchases directly from me - don't count on Amazon. (Not that this matters a great deal, since I'm pretty much at the bottom of the sales figures on Amazon anyhow. Let's face it - this isn't a prurient romance novel or dystopian young adult sci-fi novel.)

I don't necessarily get any more money if you purchase it from me - since I had to buy my copies from my publisher (CreateSpace) and have them shipped to me. And well, I have to handle the shipping cost if I ship them to you. So in some ways, I get more if you purchase from Amazon.

But if you really want to purchase it from me - email me, and we'll exchange info. And I'll sign it, if you care about that sort of thing. ;-)

Speaking entirely for myself, I'm more interested in people and their lives than just places per se.

Pretty much the same way myself. Even when I do write about places in NY or elsewhere, I inevitably end up writing about the people I'm with at the time or see.
And photos? Tend to have people in them. When I draw or paint? People.

I'm more interested in character than setting. Not really much of a travel writer or blogger.
