Sep. 7th, 2016 09:15 pmContinuing my watch of S6 Game of Thrones -- which doesn't appear to be following the books at all at the moment. I'm not sure, but did Samwell and Gilly visit his home first prior to going to Old Town? I don't think so. And Bran's story is completely off-book at the moment.
In other words, at this point, I wouldn't worry too much about the books. You can read the books and watch the series without being spoiled on either. GRR Martin more or less stated the same thing himself.
Will state that the series certainly employs a lot of British Television and Film Character Actors -- Richard E Grant popped up in a minor role in an episode.
