1. Anybody else tired of the seemingly endless and somewhat farcical United States Presidential Election? I swear, if I don't see another newspaper headline, facebook post, etc about it...that said, it was admittedly interesting to discover a leading Arizona newspaper had endorsed Clinton. Keep in mind - Arizona is a bit like Kansas, it never votes Democrat.

I just wish the whole thing was over, so I could stop worrying about it. If Hillary wins, it will be life as usual. If Trump wins...we're doomed and I may need to figure out how to get off planet earth.
Apparently some billionaire wants to colonize Mars? So that's a possibility. I'd prefer it if he just shipped Trump to Pluto. I'd almost be willing to chip in.

2. Elton Musk to colonize space - launches a plan to send people to Mars - timely article for the other sci-fi novel that I'm writing, about a future where corporations and billionaires like Musk genetically enhanced humans to colonize space.

3. Watched Once Upon a Time and...I don't know, feels a bit like the writers are recycling story lines. Still character centric and still feels like watching some weird mish-mash of cross-over fanfic or crack fic. Hyde is rather interesting. But apparently the Alice spin-off ceases to exist, because they are bringing in Aladdin and Jafar, as if their story was never told in the Wonderland spin-off.

4. Commute was a nightmare -- got home later, as a result missed UPS, and have to pick up my package at some deli somewhere on Church. The F train got stalled at Bergen Street in Brooklyn. I was at West 4th when I found out. I'd been on a nice F train, with newer seats, lots of space, comfy, when they told me it was going on the D line to Coney Island. So I hopped off with a bunch of other people to grab an F. We waited. Garbled messages on the loud-speaker. People going up in mass to the A/C trains. Waited. Finally: "Due to an F train being stalled at Bergen Street, there are no F trains running to Jay St/Metro Tech and beyond in Brooklyn. For service go to..." I hopped on a B, stood for a while, until we began to go over the Manhattan Bridge - nice view of the Brooklyn Bridge and the water by the way. Found a map and finally another seat. Checked smartphone for upcoming stations and where I could switch to the Q. Got off at Church. Switched to the Q. Got off at Beverly.
Then had to walk the 10-20 blocks home, about twenty minutes, and my leg was bothering me. Same one - the right one. I call it sugar leg -- although it also acts up with arthritis - due to the arthritis in my spine. I'd planned to go grocery shopping but that's clear on the other side -- or a ten minute walk/ .08 mile via the F, but a 45 minute walk/ 4 mile via the Q. The other option was the Coop Grocery Store, but I knew it was going to rain and at that point I just wanted to get home, call the mother, do yoga and meditate.

I so relate to your election blues. As you know it is the same over here.

On one hand we have an insane right wing nutjob, who more than borders into fascism and on the other we have a reasonable human being. It's as if am looking for something to cook my coffee in. All my life it has been the choice between different coffee makers. Maybe I would prefer the Italian Machine over the Nespresso, but in the end all of them would make at least some sort of coffee. And this time I have the choice between a rubber duck and a coffee machine. One is completely unfit to make coffee/politics and yet, still, it is a close call.

Feel much the same way, and that's a good analogy. Although, I'd extend it to one that is not only completely unfit but dangerously so. Trump could do some real damage if he got elected. The US President has access to the nuclear codes....granted, we can't go to war without Congress, but Bush sort of managed it.

I got into a discussion someone on FB, some relative of an aunt by marriage (ie. she's married to my father's younger brother). The woman asked me if I was happy with the current administration. And I thought, well, yes. What's not to like? Better economy, more jobs, safer world, yeah it's not perfect, but it's a lot better than it was eight years ago, so progress.

I don't get these destructive voters. I mean over here, there are a lot of problems with our current government and I am not blind to them. I did not vote for the people currently in power, but still I don't fancy burning everything to cinders because I do not like all aspects of it.

If I have some problems with the house I live in, I try to fix them, not burn it to the ground.

I didn't watch the debate. I tire of politician talk very quickly.

I learned on our local news that The Arizona Republic has never endorsed a Democrat for President before in its 126 year history. (It has endorsed Democrats for state offices.) Not really difficult to figure out why the change now.

The Republicans are suffering mightily in the state from having Trump at the top of the ticket. Our county sheriff, who is well over 80, has never faced much of a challenge at election time, till this year. John McCain will probably win another term in the Senate though he too is getting very old. Unlike the sheriff he didn't jump at the chance to endorse Trump. It could be close. His supporters are running virtually identical negative ads against the Democratic challenger to the ones that failed to keep her out of the House of Representatives years ago. I couldn't imagine my own Republican Congressman losing. He felt secure enough to be the only Republican Congressman from Arizona to attend Trump's convention. Neither Senator went either. But this year anything might be possible and there is a slim chance he could lose.

I made it six minutes into the debate and gave up, actually it may have been three. Switched to NPR live-blog fact check, and just read the fact checks. It wasn't really a debate, because the only person who knows how to debate is Hillary Clinton, no one else does. None of the Presidential Debates have been true debates. They are mostly pontificating or in this case, insane ranting from Trump with Clinton rolling her eyes along with the audience.

It's admittedly a good sign that Republicans are struggling in Arizona, and a paper that hasn't endorsed a Democrat since its inception has now done so.

Didn't know this. This gives me hope. I'm in NY - it always goes Democrat. So hard to tell which way the wind is blowing. My parents are no help, while they are avid Hillary supporters and donated to her campaign, they know people as do I that still support Trump.
