Mother: I'm glad you are writing stories again. I don't really care if you publish them, at least you are writing.
Me:That's because you know I get crazy when I don't.
I've decided to work on multiple stories at the same time, and not wait until I've completed one to start another. If another comes to me, I will leap frog to it. In the past, I would put it on hold until I finished the one that I was steadfastly working on -- and would not let go of it until I did something with it or published it. This resulted in lengthy periods of writer's block and depression.
Now, I've chosen to free myself and just write the stories, not worrying so much where they end up.
I have hundreds of books on my shelves and Kindle that I have not read. It doesn't matter if the story gets out to the readers, it matters if I can write it and read it. I write stories for myself.
Everything else I write is for others.
