1.) For the Doctor Who fans on the reading list...
Have Breakfast with Six Doctor Whos... Only one not coming to the party is Nine, spoilsport.
I rather adore Matt Smith and David Tennant as actors...seen them in other things, they are insanely good.
2.) And for the X-men fans out there...the movie franchise is about to ramp up again.
X-men movie news
* Dark Phoenix is the next X-men arc film, secretly titled X-men: Supernova
with a definite YA vibe. This means they may actually do the story justice. (I hated X-men Last Stand, which handed the whole thing over to Wolverine and ruined it.)
* New Mutants
* Deadpool 2 and Josh Brolin has signed on as Cable, with Domino showing up.
(YAY!)
They actually got some better actors in there playing the roles and a good lineup. We can thank the success of the tv series and the last few films for this new ramp up.
So happy about this. I prefer the X-men films to the Avengers franchise. My favorite superhero film is X-men: Days of Future Past, it's a little Manchurian Candidate meets Malcolm X.
Since the X-men comics have gone off the rails, at least we got the movie and tv franchises.

Date: 2017-04-24 01:02 am (UTC)The best Avenger's movie was actually Captain America - Civil War. That was good. I was surprised at how good it was.
Doctor Strange and Ant-Man also surprised me. Looking forward to Thor: Raganaork -- the trailer is great.

I actually like the on-screen Avengers better than the comic version. Mixed on the new Superman...although Iron Man being his mentor is a nice twist.

Date: 2017-04-24 01:34 am (UTC)(I've read the comic books, so know everyone's back story and the whole verse...so this is hilarious to me. For two reasons. 1) Spiderman never meets the Norse Gods and has little to do with them. He's actually more like Clark Kent or the Flash in the Marvel comics. 2) Loki is NOT a nice guy in the comic books. But he's also not portrayed by Tom Hiddleston.)
Tony/Loki is an interesting pairing. I always sort of found Tony/Hulk and Tony/Steve Rodgers interesting. Because Tony is such a loose canon. The comics play up the Tony/Steve pairing. Loki doesn't feature much in the Avenger comics. I saw him more in the X-men ones, weirdly.
See...I was reading the comics in the 1980s, when the idea of a Marvel movie was a pipe dream. DC got the movies, not Marvel. They just didn't have the effects back then to truly pull it off.
Haven't read any fanfic though. Don't suppose there's any on Cyclops?

Date: 2017-04-24 04:07 pm (UTC)There's definitely been tons of Steve/Tony and some Tony/Bruce out there. Tony/Loki is, understandably, a small ship and I confess I failed to understand how it came about at first. Eventually it made more sense though in good part because the representation of Loki varies wildly, and most often merges who he is in Agent of Asgard and the MCU. I notice he's portrayed a lot as an intellectual whose bookishness is undervalued and scorned in Asgard. I ended up writing a post about how it clicked for me.
Yes, Tony being unpredictable and at the same time controlling in nature and isolated from others definitely puts him more in Loki's camp (and there are quite a few dark Tony/Loki fics out there where Tony turns against the Avengers entirely). How Loki and Peter wound up together I don't know, but I've read a few fics where he is secretly (sometimes Tony doesn't even know) Tony's son. I've also read a few where Darcy Lewis is Tony's daughter. I think the latter come from people wanting het stories pairing Steve and Tony, for example. But I haven't personally read any where Tony and Peter or Loki and Peter are paired romantically. It's more that Peter serves as an initial bridge between them and Loki finds Peter's mouthiness and directness amusing and becomes either his secret protector or does so openly.
