Feb. 10th, 2018 03:27 pm1. Rainy day, doing laundry among other household or rather apartment related things. Why is it that on rainy February days the sky always looks like soiled white socks? Or maybe that's just me. And may not be a February thing, but February is such a depressing month in certain areas of the US, the sky is a dull white gray color (soiled white socks), the ground is a dingy brown color, and everything looks glum and dead. Reminding me of a barren dystopia wasteland.
Watched the robot vacuum wander about the apartment. This was active watching, in that I wandered after it, picked it up when it ran over things it shouldn't, ate things that were bad for it, and didn't go in the direction I wanted it to. It comes with a remote - but seriously it's useless. When I told my father about the robot vacuum over the phone, he wanted to know what I named it. I said, "robot vacuum". I do not name inanimate objects. I have enough issues naming animate objects. I tend to forget names. If I owned a cat, I would most likely call it cat, until it chose to argue otherwise.
Speaking of cats, also watched Crazy Ex-Girlfriend -- the best thing in it was this song and dance number about "now I'm permanently single, so I should get a butt-load of cats". I laughed my head off. I'm single, and I do not own nor wish to own (well for the most part at any rate) cats or any other pet. I don't think they necessarily make you less lonely.
There's this great line in the song...sung by the cats..."For some reason, we don't know how, we've become associated with loneliness. We need to hire a better publicist. And we're not that friendly. We sleep most of the time. And we'll ruin your furniture. Have you considered getting a dog?"
Rebeca: No, I want a butt-load of cats.
Cats: Okay, don't say we didn't warn you.
Me: Bwhhahahhah!
The rest of it, I pretty much fast-forwarded through. Although will state that everyone but Rebecca appears to be evolving and moving forward. Well, Rebecca and Josh Chen at any rate.

* Rosaria Dawson
* Ted Danson
* Anthony Stewart Head

[This has had regrettably mixed results, a lot of actors are not good at picking material. Just saying.]
List of television writers that I've begun to follow around and will watch anything they do (with increasingly mixed results).
* Drew Goddard

* Tim Minear
* Noah Hawley
* Amy Palladino-Sherman

3. Okay this just boggles the mind ... Student failed her assignment because her professor said Australia isn't a country.
I'm trying to figure out if this is joke. Because...seriously? No, appears to be supported by other sources.. Professor Fired after claiming Australia not a Country.
Yeah, it's True - moral of the story? Be wary of online courses.

Date: 2018-02-11 05:25 pm (UTC)I have a short list of actors I will watch in just about anything. As previously mentioned, Andre Braugher, David Duchovny (head desk), Gillian Anderson (although I have opted out half of her projects for different reasons), and apparently Abigail Spencer from Timeless since I talked my library into ordering her Sundance Channel series, Rectify. And Harrison Ford, back in the day, when we were both much, much younger.

Date: 2018-02-11 11:13 pm (UTC)And Oh, I forgot Andre Braugher. I watched Fringe because of Andre Braugher.
Dominic West -- I was following for a bit, but I didn't like several of the series he picked, so gave up. (Was a fan of his because of The Wire, but disliked the Affair.
Writers aren't any more reliable than actors unfortunately. I liked Duchovny until I watched California, then disliked Duchovny.

Date: 2018-02-12 04:58 am (UTC)You mean Lance Reddick? He played Philip Broyle on Fringe and a cop, whose name I don't know, on The Wire.
We bought season one of Homicide, Life on the Street but I have never watched it because my husband will only watch comedies...
You stopped liking Duchovny because of one role? I watched a season of Californication. I didn't care for it either. I thought he was great in Aquarius.
Beside Harrison Ford in his prime, I can't think of a contemporary movie actor, male or female, whose career I've followed. Honestly, I'm lucky if I get to see more than two or three new movies a year.
I've watched a lot of Fred Astaire's movies. And I've seen most of Audrey Hepburn's films, too. The one movie they were in together, Funny Face, was pretty terrible, which was a shame.

Date: 2018-02-12 06:03 pm (UTC)Well, I didn't like Duchovny that much to begin with...and couldn't get into Aquarius. (Serial killers -- I don't do serial killers.)
Ah, yes, for some reason I get Lance Reddick and Andre Braugher confused. I do that with a lot of actors and people actually. The twenty-something white female and male actors drive me crazy -- they all look alike. I can't tell them apart at all.
Shame, Homicide Life on the Streets was the precursor to The Wire, and really good.
Very happy, I'm not married to someone who insists on watching only sitcoms. I'd be miserable. I tend to avoid them for the most part. There's only a handful that I watch: Big Bang, Crazy Ex, and Good Place -- and they are all off-the-beaten track.
