According to whedonesque or rather Ryan Seacreast and Kristin at E!Online, James Marsters (Spike on ATS) has decided to shave his head for charity.
My first reaction? LMAO! That made me laugh for the first time today. Why?

Going back in time to a dinner with cjlasky three weeks ago.

cjl: Once ATS is over - Marsters will probably just shave his head, get rid of the bleached locks and start a-new. That's what I'd do.

Me: No, he can't do that, he's doing the Ghost in The Robot tour.

cjl: well...oh. (Pondering it) You got a point. But still makes the most sense.

Should have occurred to me that one - GiTR starts in June - hair grows back fast. And two - he can always wear a hat like Billy Bob Thorton and Bruce Willis do.

At any rate - kudos go to cjlasky for predicting this oh about three or four weeks ago.

Bush? Sigh. Can we please, please, please elect Kerry. He can't be worse than Dubya. Please?

I think I lost my writing muse - if you find him/her could you please return him/her to me forth-with? Haven't been able to write anything coherent in days. Have tried two book reviews on Harry Potter - deleted them. Tried writing a post on copyright at teaattheford - deleted it. Considered another chapter of evil fanfic...about to give up. It's almost as if every time I try to put words to paper I feel as if every word doesn't fit or sounds lame. How do you get past this? Wondering if it's a side-effect of attempting to write cover letters and unemployment stress?

Have become desperate in job search - *really* desperate. I'll take anything at this point. Well within reason and as long as it's legal. Prostitution and stripping ain't my thing, besides don't have the body for it, sorry. Also not so hot at retail for some reason. I think it's the waiting around then being suddenly overwhelmed with 20 people that does me in. Considered applying to the company sending people to Iraq, apparently all you need to do is apply and they'll take you and hazard pay? Not a bad thing. Did send info into the Teaching Fellows of NYC - don't know why, I seriously don't see myself as a teacher. (And yes, you need to be certified to substitute teach in the state of NY). At any rate if any of the kind souls who have befriended me or are lurking out there know of a potential or actual job in NYC - please tell me! Apparently networking is where it's at in this current environment and this is a network of sorts, right?

My skills are:

·Demonstrated ability to research, analyze and synthesize business and legal information
·Superior verbal communication skills including writing, oral presentation, and editing capabilities
·Skilled in presenting ideas to senior management and staff
·Able to set priorities, organize projects and complete tasks under deadline pressure
·Strong problem solving and negotiation skills, especially regarding contractual agreements
·Work well independently and as part of a collaborative team

Thanks muchly.

Rats, it's too bad about subbing. Texas is so non-union that anyone with a high school diploma can sub, and anyone with an alternative certificate can teach.

Hey, don't worry if you think your writing isn't good enough. I am always convinced mine is crappy, but I do it anyway. You're doing it for fun, remember? Lock it up if you want to, and you can change it later when you're feeling more sucessful, if necessary. Although I am curious what Dawn will do next. :)

I might feel better if we had actually elected Bush instead of putting the cabal of Old White Neocons in office. Bush couldn't even remember two questions delivered at the same time, how much damage could he have done on his own? I'm very disappointed though that no one asked about a draft, since the administration is already talking about drafting people with special knowledge, such as languages. To bad they fired all the gay translators; I guess the administration was afraid they'd get married or something.

Thanks

Yep, NY is a huge union state. Unions for basically everything under the sun and strongly ruled by them.
Not that it is a bad thing - I shudder to think what would be going on without the unions. Last company I worked for - all the clerical employees and non-salaried were in a union, derived by the employees for that company. Our holidays and benefits to some degree were dictated by the union.

The part I'm stuck on in evil fanfic is actually the section on Giles. Hard guy to write - Giles.

Also agree on Bush. It's Cheney and the advisors from his father's administration that are beginning to urk me. The only one in the bunch I have any faith in is Colin Powell.

No question, the lack of unions has its downside, like the low salaries and often bad working condions here. The tachers' unions here are toothless. The year I started teaching the entry-level wage for teachers was $19,000 a year. When a student punched me in the back the school did very little because they didn't have to; I had to report him to the police when he showed up at school the next day.

Giles is tricky. In Chosen he was able to abandon the Watcher mindset to support Buffy, but in AtS he was a somewhat ruthless bureaucrat, very CoW. I know that was necessary to serve the story, but I would have thought he'd loosen up a little now that the most pressing crises have passed. I hope Whedon is serious about more Buffyverse stories in the future.

Yep, it was one of D'H's. I've snaged most of my icons from D'H, masq, shagalot, wisteria and oyceter.
