shadowkat1. Well, hmmm... Arizona and April are due to leave Grey's by the end of the year. (Or at the end of the 14th Season, yes, it's been on for 14 years...but Supernatural has been on for 13...)
I'm not upset about this. My least favorite characters were Arizona and April (mainly because I found them to be horribly written and insanely whiny). That said, April's story was starting to get interesting this season. It's actually one of the few stories that was getting interesting. Although her actions don't make a lot of since and feel sort of off.
In case this makes you want to give up on Grey's...not to fret, there's more television coming your way.
2. More TV Shows...
* Legion returns on April 3 to F/X at 10 PM
* The Crossing (brought to you by the producers of Lost, and the writers of The Event, and Surface) arrives on April 2 on ABC at 10PM. The description makes me think of a reverse take on The Gifted.
"47 people wash up on a beach in the Pacific Northwest claiming to be refugees from a war torn hell -- which America will become thanks to the rise of a superpowered population known as the Apex.
As the feds swoop in to interrogate the refugees, local sheriff Jude Ellis (Steve Zahn) continues his own search for answers. "
I don't know. It could be silly. And I'm not a fan of Steve Zahn.
* Siren on Freeform about a mysterious girl who turns up in a town known for its mermaid tales.
* Bryan Cranston's "The Dangerous Book for Boys" on Amazon.
* Alex, Inc -- a sitcom about well a guy who starts-up a podcast company.
* The Americans returns for a 6th Season. (I thought it was dead, but apparently not.) - March 28, on F/X.
3. There's a new book being touted by EW that seems sort of interesting...although not until you know what it is based on.
What You Don't Know About Charlie Outlaw by Leah Stewart
The story is about a red hot actor who is grappling with being kidnapped on a remote island while his ex grapples with dwindling fame.
So far not all that interesting, right?
Now..
It's is based loosely on two real life celebrity tales. The first, Charlie Outlaw character is based on Benedict Cumberbatch's real life car-jacking and kidnapping by six men in South Africa while filming a mini-series in 2004. And the other one, his ex-girlfriend, Josie, is loosely based on Buffy alum Sarah Michelle Geller. Apparently the author is a huge fan. In the book, Josie played a badass former cult-TV character whom we meet as she's figuring out how to make her next move. It's familiar by design.
Also a great selling point. Without that information the story isn't all that interesting.
4. Found yet another relative in Germany, this round either Bavaria or Bayern, Germany. Asked my mother about the research my Great-Aunt had done and my mother stated she never got very far. Went over there and was only able to get to her great-great grandfather on one side. Mainly because German records have been destroyed. If you have German ancestory, good luck tracing it back, unless of course you are related to someone famous. We were peasant farmers in my family.
5. About to give up on my minister's book "No Other Gods", mainly because I'm getting tired of being told there's something wrong with me if I don't embrace a plant-based diet. Hello? I'm allergic and/or sensitive to beans, legumes, tofu, wheat, barely, rye, and have issues with potatoes, tomatoes, and eggplant. And struggle with a sugar addiction. Where in the hell am I getting protein? If the Universe didn't want me to eat meat, it should have made me able to eat the other crap. Just saying.

Date: 2018-03-26 11:26 pm (UTC)This is the sixth and final season of The Americans. After season four, it was renewed for two seasons. I wasn't crazy about season five but season six looks like it's going to kill me. I'm glad there will be only ten episodes to watch.

That's for sure. I remember, back at Ohio State seeing whole shelves of volumes of genealogy for every little princeling the German states produced with the high mucky-mucks conveniently separated from the middle and the bottom ranking nobles. But since I have no idea what village my German farmer ancestors came from, no real hope of finding much on them in Germany.

Date: 2018-03-27 12:19 pm (UTC)My uncle did manage to trace a relative back to the 1700s in Germany. I think he did it with the DNA results. He did the test. He's also talking his siblings into it, and has gotten more than one to do it. But you almost have to do it that way.
That explains the Bayern and Bavaria notations in ancestry. Clearly some people are using the German and some the English version of these place names.

Date: 2018-03-27 12:17 pm (UTC)Well, considering Bryan Cranston (aka the actor in Breaking Bad, LBJ, and various other series) is producing it, somehow, I doubt it will go that route. Cranston doesn't strike me as alt-right.
It's on Amazon, I think. Streaming. Easy to ignore. Actually, there's over 1000 television shows right now on streaming...seriously, where's the audience for all of this? And who has the time? I have 66 hours on a DVR and haven't looked at streaming in six months.
