Well, the Emmys are making me want to check out "Black Mirror" and "Godless".
So far what's won is Marvelous Mrs. Maizel, Godless, and Black Mirror. Which is interesting. It's all Amazon and Netflix. Hee Hee.
Slogging my way through Illona Andrews Iron & Magic. To be honest, I'm more interested in slogging my way through the seemingly endless novel that I'm writing. But I did read more today than usual. Also slept on the commute home...so there's that.
I'm beginning to fangirl another female star of The Good Place (which I haven't quite forgiven the Emmy's for ignoring, although on the other hand...I don't really take awards shows all that seriously -- mainly because it's impossible to choose between works of art, and highly subjective.) I certainly couldn't tell you if I preferred Marvelous Mrs. Maizel or The Good Place.) Why? See youtube video interview...
I did like the joke about how a situation comedy was basically a drama that was only thirty minutes long. Other than that, it's not that entertaining. Not sure why it's on Monday, wasn't it supposed to be on Sunday? Also why did they put Poldark and The Minaturist on Monday not Sunday? I'm confused. Not that I'd have watched any of the above on Sunday, I'm not really watching have of them now.
We'll see how many of these new television shows and returning ones that I actually watch. I'm finding myself jumping more and more to Netflix. It's easier to watch and I can watch shows pretty much whenever.
Going to attempt to go to bed at 10 tonight not 11:00 and read a bit.
ETA: Uhm this has to be first, (or maybe not...saw others have done it at various points), an Emmy winner proposed while accepting his award to his long-time girlfriend, who was, understandably overwhelmed.
(I'm sorry if someone did that to me, I'd murder them. Would wait until we got home to do it. Obviously.)

Date: 2018-09-19 01:31 am (UTC)I remember stating..."well, that's not exactly a glowing endorsement."
I am considering hunting down the episode that won -- which is a rip-off of Star Trek and apparently John Scalzi's Red Shirts.

Date: 2018-09-18 09:22 pm (UTC)I've always hated stunt proposals. I'm guessing this one was inspired by the one at the end of the last World Series. It reminds me of why I really didn't like the Kiss Cam scene in Set Them Up.

Found that scene cringe-inducing and unwatchable. The two people are being "bullied" into kissing. It's gross and an invasion of privacy.
I don't like being the center of attention...some people do, of course they tend to be narcissists...;-)

Date: 2018-09-19 06:09 pm (UTC)Crushing on Jameela Jamil as Tahani, crushing hard on D'Arcy Carden as Janet, and Kristen Bell... Well, I've loved Kristen Bell since Episode 1 of Veronica Mars, and that sure as hell isn't going to change now.
Final two episodes of S2 on NBC tomorrow. Full, rambling review after that.

Date: 2018-09-19 07:00 pm (UTC)Meanwhile I'm crushing on the guy who plays Chidi, and Ted Danson. ;-)
The best episode is the Trolly episode. And S2 is better than S1. Although you sort of need to see S1 first. ;-)

Date: 2018-09-19 07:51 pm (UTC)Episode 2.10: He doesn't want to lie, but if he can't pull off his disguise as "Trent", they're all doomed. Eleanor gives him a lecture on situational ethics and Chidi gapes at her in astonishment--he didn't cover that topic in class.
"You... You did the reading ON YOUR OWN?!"
He was genuinely touched. It struck me as a perfect character moment that Chidi would be moved by a student's independent study...
Ted Danson. In TV comedy, he IS a higher being. The ending of "Janet and Michael," when he can't pull the trigger... Man. He just killed it.

Date: 2018-09-20 12:16 am (UTC)His evil grin at the end of the season 1 finale. (Tee-Hee) When he reveals that this is in reality..."The Bad Place".
And the Trolly Episode, where he tortures Chidi with the philosophical quandry of who do you sacrifice...Chidi and Danson totally make that episode.
Favorite Kristin Bell moment...when she realizes she got into the Good Place, but chooses to go to the Bad Place with everyone else.
And Tahani? When she figures out that comparing herself to her sister...so not working. Funniest moment...when she finds out she is in the Bad Place not the Good Place.
When Jason figures out it is the Bad Place before anyone else...and Michael goes, damn, I give up. Jason figured it out???
But mainly I just love how the writer makes fun of philosophy and philosophy majors. (I dated one too many Chidi's in my life time.)
