1. Watch the Full Video of the 20th Anniversary Angel Cast Reunion HERE
Article HERE.
[Eh, doesn't really tell us anything most of us do not already know from various interviews and Q&A's but still.]
In the City of Angels, the sun is shining brightly on Good Friday. But beyond a heavy black door, away from harsh light, vampires, demons, and a rogue demon hunter or two gather in the darkness of an abandoned warehouse.
Okay, so the Hollywood studio that’s serving as the location for EW’s Angel reunion shoot isn’t actually a warehouse, nor a meeting place for the undead. Rather, the cast of the WB drama is very human, and expressing very human levels of excitement at being together again, 20 years after their show debuted.
“It’s good to see everybody!” says David Boreanaz, 50, the show’s titular vampire who, upon arrival, immediately makes a beeline for the dressing room to find his costars. Spotting Charisma Carpenter (shallow cheerleader-turned-champion Cordelia) and Amy Acker (shy Texan physicist Winifred “Fred” Burkle) in makeup chairs, he plops himself on the counter and sits, legs swinging giddily, catching up with them while they’re curled and coiffed. “Look at that smile,” he says, gesturing to Carpenter with affection. “We just picked up where we were last time we talked to each other.” Speaking of picking up, Acker, 42, enjoyed the series’ experience so much, she has already declared she’d be ready for a revival, which would be season 6. “Every show should be this fun,” she says. “We were so spoiled.”
And..
That’s not to say grown-up Angel didn’t have its share of teething problems. When the network saw the script for episode two, they balked. “They completely freaked out and they were right because in our effort to go dark, we went a little too dark,” says Greenwalt of a scene in which Angel lets a girl die and then licks her blood up off the ground. “If you’re gonna go that dark, you have to earn it. So, we shut down for a few weeks, revamped some things and we were off and running.”
2. And...guess what? Disney worried that it is not quite making ENOUGH money off of Avenger's Endgame is... Re-Releasing Avengers Endgame on June 28th...and apparently within days. It's being re-released June 28th.
In an interview with Screen Rant during the Spider-Man: Far From Home junket, Feige confirmed Endgame will be re-released on June 28. While it isn't an extended cut of the 3-hour epic, it will have extra surprises for people who stick around:
Not an extended cut, but there will be a version going into theaters with a bit of a marketing push with a few new things at the end of the movie. If you stay and watch the movie, after the credits, there’ll be a deleted scene, a little tribute, and a few surprises. Which will be next weekend.
I don't know about anyone else? But it's still in the theaters near me.
Why?
The timing of this re-release makes a lot of sense. Endgame re-opens just a few days prior to Far From Home's premiere, giving fans the opportunity to rewatch Endgame before catching up with Peter Parker on his next solo adventure. Those two movies are linked; Far From Home marketing has made it very clear Peter is still mourning the loss of his mentor, Tony Stark, and has to rise up to the challenge of becoming "the next Iron Man" to keep Earth safe. With that in mind, Endgame and Far From Home should make for a compelling double feature, as they work together to close out Phase 3. As for the "new things" after the credits, it sounds like they will essentially be Blu-ray bonus features on the big screen. Endgame's home media release will undoubtedly include deleted scenes and fun surprises. It'll be interesting to see if the tribute is for the late Stan Lee, who passed away in November 2018.
As of this writing, Endgame is about $45 million away from matching Avatar's record. The re-release will help close that gap somewhat, but it still might not be enough to make Endgame the king of the box office world. Die-hard fans of the MCU will definitely want to check Endgame out again, but there may not be incentive for general audiences - especially since Toy Story 4 will be the blockbuster of the moment and Far From Home is on the horizon. Coincidentally, Avatar had a re-release of its own, which tallied $10.7 million domestically. That's barely a blip on the radar compared to its overall total, so Endgame may still be a close second when it's all said and done.
Apparently making $2.4 billion isn't enough, we have to make the record books too, and kill Dark Phoenix dead and kick it out of the theaters.
Oh, and apparently we need to make the movie LONGER. It's 3 and a half hours with the previews and credits. But you didn't have to watch the credits before. Now they are adding 30 minutes of material to the 30 minutes of credits -- so...we have a four and a half hour movie???
You know you can also wait until it comes out on Blue-Ray or on On-Demand or Disney Plus? (Shhh...don't tell Disney.)

5. And I keep finding cool and weird fannish stuff...these are podcasts. I'm not into them, because I get bored listening to things. It may have to do with the fact that from the moment I leave my apartment in the morning to the moment I re-enter it at night -- I'm immersed in non-stop chatter of some sort. So when I get home, I like tv, books, reading -- visuals. But can't just listen to chatter -- unless it's my mother on the phone or Wales, and I have no choice.
So this is for you, or those of you who love these sorts of things, not me:

Dragonslayer by Duncan M. Hamilton
Once a member of the King’s personal guard, Guillot dal Villevauvais spends most days drinking and mourning his wife and child. He’s astonished—and wary—when the Prince Bishop orders him to find and destroy a dragon. He and the Prince Bishop have never exactly been friends and Gill left the capital in disgrace five years ago. So why him? And, more importantly, how is there a dragon to fight when the beasts were hunted to extinction centuries ago by the ancient Chevaliers of the Silver Circle?
On the way to the capitol city, Gill rescues Solène, a young barmaid, who is about to be burned as a witch. He believes her innocent…but she soon proves that she has plenty of raw, untrained power, a problem in this land, where magic is forbidden. Yet the Prince Bishop believes magic will be the key to both destroying the dragon and replacing the young, untried King he pretends to serve with a more pliable figurehead.
Between Gill’s rusty swordsmanship and Solene’s unstable magic, what could go wrong?

Earth by Ben Bova
A wave of lethal gamma radiation is expanding from the core of the Milky Way galaxy at the speed of light, killing everything in its path. The countdown to when the death wave will reach Earth and the rest of the solar system is at two thousand years.
Humans were helped by the Predecessors, who provided shielding generators that can protect the solar system. In return, the Predecessors asked humankind’s help to save other intelligent species that are in danger of being annihilated.
But what of Earth? With the Death Wave no longer a threat to humanity, humans have spread out and colonized all the worlds of the solar system. The technology of the Predecessors has made Earth a paradise, at least on the surface. But a policy of exiling discontented young people to the outer planets and asteroid mines has led to a deep divide between the new worlds and the homeworld, and those tensions are about to explode into open war.
The Redemption of Time by Baoshu

Granted a healthy clone body by the Trisolarans, Yun has spent his very long life in exile as a traitor to the human race. Nearing the end of his existence at last, he suddenly receives another reprieve—and another regeneration. A consciousness calling itself The Spirit has recruited him to wage battle against an entity that threatens the existence of the entire universe. Date: 2019-06-21 11:36 pm (UTC)DB must be pushing an ANGEL revival purely for the love. Out of the current cast, he needs it least; SEAL Team is one of those CBS military procedurals with a built in audience that could sustain it for another decade.
(Whedon and Bell co-wrote "Not Fade Away." I could go for another script from that team. Do you think an ANGEL movie would use the Mad Max angle that Fury's always talking about?)
You do have a thing for horror flicks, don't you?
Do I? In the past year and a half, I've seen It and Us in the theaters. That's it for horror. But I have been catching up on classic horror on TV. Will probably watch Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2 this weekend. My wife loves her some Bruce Campbell....)
Endgame AND Spidey? Oh God, I don't know if I have the strength. I picked Midsommar because we're both William Jackson Harper fans, and the director (Ari Aster) is about as hot as Jordan Peele. (Opens July 2nd.)
DB and Angel
Date: 2019-06-22 01:35 am (UTC)Eh, I don't know about that. I've been following this off and on in the Entertainment News...and DB is weird about Angel. DB is sort of weird period.
For one thing, he was a prankster on Angel and this did not go over well with everyone. Remember the guys who created the puppet version of you (upon which your icon is based?) well, I met one of them (complete jerk by the way -- I was not impressed). And they went on to do Smile Time. And in an email to a former friend of mine (who I met on the ATPO board of all things), they told them that Acker and J August despised DB, mainly because DB was a prankster and annoyed the hell out of them. Adam Baldwin said the same thing in a commentary -- that DB would cost studio time and hold people over due to his unprofessional behavior on set. (To be fair to DB, there are other people, far more famous, who are also well-known pranksters. Denisof didn't mind, nor did Carpenter, or Marsters for that matter -- that we know of. Marsters was described as ultimate professional who rarely flubbed a line -- think theater training. He also didn't take any of the props for the same reason -- theater producer.]
And...DB recently got into trouble and sued during the last season of Bones for well...some of the same stunts he pulled on Buffy and Angel. (Apparently DB likes to wander around the set pantless and show off his pecker. LOL! Eliza Dusku and Julie Benze were going on about it at a Q&A to James Marsters complete shock and bewilderment. SMG also mentioned it at the Buffy reunion, embarrassing DB, while Marsters rolled his eyes and looked elsewhere. And he carried this habit onto Bones and Seal Team, with well not quite as nice a response. Cost him a bundle to settle it.)
Seal Team, believe it or not was on the shelf. It really dropped in the ratings during the second season. It got renewed by the skin of its teeth. Came thisclose to cancellation. It was unclear for a while if it would be renewed. And ...during that period, DB was teasing about a surprise regarding the Angel reunion and pushing for more.
Also, weirdly, up until this year, DB wouldn't talk about Angel at all. Interviewers brought it up? He changed the subject. Refused to discuss it. Said it was in his past. Would not discuss at cons to the annoyance of more than one fan and interviewer. It was becoming a running joke about how DB would shut down an interview the moment they brought up Angel. He resisted an Angel reunion. And he and Vincent Karthesier both complained about how hard it was to act on that series, and how constrained they were.
Angel was solidly in DB's rear view. And miraculously around 2018-2019, DB was all "oh yeah! Angel! I loved that show! And Buffy reboot? Great idea!" Which was weird, considering they had to beg him to come to the Buffy reunion, and he wouldn't be in the same room as Nick Brendan.
So...I don't know what is going on there.
They are all doing okay. Marsters has a major role on Hulu's Runaways (he's playing the Villain - also Marsters doesn't need the money, he's worth $5 Million in change), Acker gets roles here and there (I think she's in another pilot), Denisof got on The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (apparently), and J August is in another show popping up (can't remember the name), Charisma needs it -- but Cordy's dead, so unlikely. Boreanze was making $22 Million a year on Bones, so I'm not sure why he's all of a sudden nostalgic over Angel.
Boreanze has gotten himself into some financial troubles -- he finally got sued for going pant-less on set, and texting pics of his pecker to an extra. And CBS has cracked down after Bull and well the head of CBS firing. I'm thinking he's missing Angel about now. DB by the way has not aged well -- he looks like he's drunk one too many beers in his lifetime.
Marsters looked a little awkward -- although he's done cons with pretty much everyone in the room except for J August. And not in a long while with DB. He has mentioned how he is a bit old to play Spike. (So is DB. Marsters has aged better than DB and he's about six years older. Marsters also stopped drinking and went on a Paeolo diet.)
What I found interesting is that DB is only two years younger than I am. I thought he was a lot younger. And JM is 6 years older. Considering Gellar is close to 40. That's ...hmmm.
[How do I know all this? Sigh. Fandom. Sigh. Also. Sigh. Internet. Sigh.]

Date: 2019-06-22 01:37 am (UTC)That's more than me. Although I may catch US on tv at some point. I'm on the fence about IT, I saw the television mini-series and that's enough. (I don't like Spiders and I know IT is a spider.)
I tend to avoid horror flicks in theaters for the most part - last one I saw gave me nightmares for a year. (The Ring, bad idea. I had to put my television set in the hallway of the old apartment.)
But they do fascinate me. I saw Haunting of Hill House on Netflix and it was amazing. Haunted for six months.
So am intrigued.
