Jul. 28th, 2019 06:51 pm1. I got lazy and decided to just stay in, watch tv, and nap. Snoozed in my arm chair for two hours. Very nice snooze. Not been sleeping well, so needed the nap.
Also, I've been involved with lots of people lately, so needed a break. Vacation was a wee bit more people intensive than I'm used to.
2. Started reading Jason Aaron's The Mighty Thor -- which, uhm, the bits about breast cancer are well done. The bits about Thor are cheesy. (I've never been a Thor fan...I think studying mythology may be what put me off of Thor. Don't know.)
Can't seem to find the issue where Jane Foster is diagnosed with breast cancer and takes up the mantle of Thor. Did they write it? Is it hidden in one of the huge volumes?
This is the problem with long-running serials or comics, it is impossible to find story threads that you want to read without having to plow through a bunch of crap you don't.
The book I'm reading now -- I borrowed from comixcology. It's sort of like Kindle Unlimited. OR Audible. In which you can get a lot of free books. Half of Saga - I read for free. And various back issues of the X-men. Also have Nimona for free.
3. Also still watching The Good Fight on CBS. It's good satire, my only problem with it is the satire is a bit too realistic for my taste. Biting political satire works better when we aren't living in bizarro world.
This brings up another point...I was discussing with MD over vacation. She said the problem was that we can't have respectful and intelligent political discussions any longer. (I'm not certain we ever really did. But they were a bit easier prior to 2016.)
I informed her that I've tried to have these discussions but you just can't when the other side's mind is made up. Also I've tried to have enough of them that I actually understand and know why people voted for the Doofus. But the thing of it is? I don't respect them for doing it. I don't respect their reasons for doing it. And I don't respect their political stance or opinion on the matter. And they don't respect mine.
And to have a civil discussion about politics -- you have to respect each other's opinion and point of view. If you don't? You can't have that discussion.
This is true about everything really. If you don't respect or can't visualize where the other person is coming from -- and think they have insane troll logic, this will come out in your discussion regardless of the topic at hand. It can even be about the color of paint...
So, I veer away from them.

Date: 2019-07-29 12:24 am (UTC)So am I. It was nice to have a day to just lay about.
Will most likely see the Tarantino film next weekend. I'm admittedly curious about it. DiCaprio of all people plays a Burt Reynolds style actor, and Brad Pitt plays the stunt double. With Margo Robbie as Sharon Tate.
It also has cameos by people like Roman Polanski. And characters from 1970s Hollywood, such as Steve McQueen, Sam Wannamaker...
So I do want to see it. But I may just go by myself. Also you have to be in the mood to see a movie. I wasn't this weekend.
