Aug. 25th, 2019 05:59 pm1. I really need to learn to stay off Facebook during the weekends. Blood pressure jumped up during a discussion regarding education. Ex-roommate was pushing for no higher education, and just getting a good blue-collar job, you'll make more money.
She's not intellectually curious. My whole family is -- I was taught at an early age to value education. My father was the first in his family to get a higher education, and my mother's generation was among the first in hers.
Education, my father taught me, teaches you how to learn and think critically. It doesn't teach you a trade -- it teaches you how to find one and learn the trade, and redefine yourself and figure out new skills. You need to constantly be learning, constantly challenging yourself. Constantly questioning. He had little tolerance for people who didn't value that or do that.
Also talking to my mother today upset me. So I took a long walk and meditated to let go of it. She didn't mean to...but alas she brought up stuff, and I got upset. I'm avoiding a few topics right now -- to keep myself sane, and in particular anything that has to do with politics.

๐ด Been to an Island: Been living on one for the last twenty some years, and my parents live on one.
โ๏ธ Flown on a Plane: Yes, many times.
๐ Rode in an Ambulance: Yes, but accompanying someone else -- after they were hit by a car, I didn't know them, but they were scared and asked me to come along.
๐ค Sang Karaoke: Yes. Terribly. I remember someone telling me how brave I was to get up there and sing when I clearly couldn't sing a note. Haven't done it since.
โธ Ice Skating: Yes, but it's been so long that I can't recall where or when.
๐ข Been on a Cruise: No. (Not sure it's my thing...)
๐ Rode on a Motorcycle: Didn't know anyone with one. I'd have done it if the opportunity presented itself.
๐ Owned a Motorcycle: God, no.
๐ด Rode on a Horse: Yes, even took horseback riding lessons as a kid. No interest in doing it now -- it didn't hurt then. It does now. Decided horseback riding is for much younger bodies, or people who don't have lower back pain.
๐ฅ Stayed in a Hospital: Yes, briefly overnight.
๐Favorite Fruit: Berries -- Blackberry, Strawberry, Raspberry.
๐ Favorite Day: Saturday
๐ Favorite Color: PURPLE
๐ฑLast phone call: to my mother about an hour and a half ago.
โ๏ธ Coffee or Tea: TEA - I can't drink coffee, it plays havoc with my nervous and digestive systems.
๐ฅง Favorite Pie: Chocolate mousse/cream pie.
๐ Favorite pizza: Can't have it any longer -- not permitted to have cheese or grains, which sort of makes it pointless. Pepperonie and Mushroom.
๐ถ Cat or Dog: Cats. But alas am allergic, less allergic to dogs, which is annoying.
๐ผ Favorite season: Spring
โญ๏ธ Met a star: yes, I met Roger Daltry, Lorraine Bracco, Davy Jones, (I was helping a marketing guy do a DVD release party) and Emily Prager (novelist). Also saw Martin Landau - from about two feet away.
๐ Rode in a helicopter: No.
๐บ Been on TV: Depends -- I've been videotaped and had to watch it, we did it in law school -- it was painful. But no, not outside of that - Thank God. Why anyone would want to be on television is beyond me.
๐ป Seen a ghost: Felt a ghost or something like it -- in Wales, and in Colorado, didn't see it. I sense energy -- and I've sensed ghosts. I know which places to avoid. My sister-in-law has seen them, and so have various relatives. Some people can see it, some people can sense it, some people don't at all.
๐คฎ Been sick in a taxi: No.
๐ Marriages: No
๐ Engagements: No
๐ Divorces: (see above -- sort of have to have the other two first)
๐ถ Kids: No
๐ฆ Brothers: one younger brother
๐ง Sisters: No
๐ Current pets: No - allergic. Having enough troubles with the stuff I can't get rid of -- such as dust, mold, and pollen.
โ๏ธ Surgeries: No -- outside of wisdom teeth, which I'm not certain counts.
๐ฆด Broken a bone: Yes -- fractured my foot.
โ Tattoos: None - that would requires having someone draw on me with a sharp needle. Eh. no.
โฐ๏ธ Seen someone die: No, but I have seen them dead. Did watch a few cats die.
That was fun. I like the pretty pictures. I just copied it, and didn't try to change the pictures. Because that requires work.

Steal away!
