Where have I been?

I've been compulsively adding my meta and essays to Archive of Our Own, all week long (at night & occasionally on lunch breaks) and I think I broke it? I also think I broke Dreamwidth? Both crashed on me tonight. At different points. Either that or the Universe wants me to take a breather, already.

And...oh ghod, have I written a shitload of meta. Also a shitload of episode and television series reviews. I haven't even made it through July 2009 yet, and I already have over 60 works uploaded and saved. 21 are Doctor Who, 35 are Buffy.
And I haven't even gotten to the monster meta that I did..."Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the Pitfalls of Television" -- which is basically me playing with footnotes.

I'm beginning to wonder if I can or should attempt to back it all up on Archive of Our Own?

This is part of the March Meta Matters Challenge. Apparently they want Meta Writers to add their content to Archive of Our Own -- and save it. (I'm not sure they know what they are asking? Meta writers are often more prolific than fanfic writers. For one thing, Meta doesn't necessarily require betaeing and it's easier and faster to write. Plus you can be as short or lengthy as you want.)

(I'm shadowkat67 over year. So far all my kudos are on "Figuring out Angel's Pesky Curse" which is kind of bewildering. But okay. )

Huh, since I'm more of a fic writer (when I write anything other than short "I liked it / I hated it" posts), it never occurred to me to move any meta posts over there...

Also, wow, you really have written a LOT of meta posts. Oof.

Oh come on:

"Pitfalls of Television" was a whole lot more than "playing with footnotes." It was the best, most comprehensive essay I've ever read about how the vagaries of TV production affect the creative path of a TV series (in this case, Buffy).

(And I gotta admit: I'm impressed by a lot of footnotes. How many in that essay? 114?)

Nah. The only essay of mine that had any scholarly heft to it was "Buffy and the Birth of American Feminism," but that depended on a large excerpt from Elizabeth Cady Stanton to drive the point home. I don't think anything else is worth the bother.

Yeah, you have to be willing to *read* the archives, for the most part. And then there are lots of OT discussions. But it's possible to do some searches if you know what you're looking for.

I was able to find some of my own posts, but only because I remembered specific words I had used.

Yes, 103 is insane. :)

Good decision on the comics. I stopped reading the comics long ago.

That's my view too.

I got into an on line argument once with someone who insisted that I had to accept the comics as canon. Neither of us convinced the other.

S/he (can't remember now) insisted that because Joss said it was canon -- which he did before the comics came out -- I had to accept that. I don't give the author that much authority.
